Can you change the religion when you do not like rituals in your church?

Because there are many people who do some religious rituals they do not understand, some of them are tempted to change their religion. Here’s a question from such a person:

I have been in the  Orthodox religion, and for many years I have not confessed myself to the priest because I can not bear and accept this perverse ritual, and that is why I ask you if it is wrong to change my religion. Thank you with respect.

It is true that confession is an unpleasant experience, especially when you have serious sins to confess, and you do not know how upright is the person who will listen to you and whether he will keep the confession in secret. I will begin my response from the essence of religion. The word RELIGION comes from latin and means rebinding, that is, the restoration of the bond or the relationship with God. This is the purpose of religion, but most of the religions do not offer this restoration of the relationship. All men are sinful from birth because we are born in a sinful nature, and then, throughout our lives, we commit many sins, which put a dividing wall between us and God and makes us enemies with Him.The purpose of religion is to remove this enmity and to establish the relationship with God, and this is possible only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and through the decision to follow His teaching as it is left it on the pages of the New Testament:

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. (John 14:6)(NASB)

The first thing you have to do is to take the New Testament and read it to understand the teaching of Christ and to decide to follow His teachings. Then you have to look for a church where people persevere in studying the Bible and live according to what is written. That’s what the true Christians do. Those who do not study the Bible and are content to belong to a confession are just not true Christians, they are just named. They have only a form of godliness, but lack the power of Christ in them, and their life in sin is a proof. Do not be content with a naked and false religion. Believe with all your heart in Jesus Christ.

May God help you become a true disciple of Jesus Christ to inherit eternal life in His kingdom.
