Why others don’t want to practice a profession?

I have published an article before “Choosing your profession: Why?” and I presented some reasons why it is important for every person to acquire a profession. The reality shows that there are many people who haven’t acquired any profession and many young people who think that it in not necessary to practice it. I invite you to read this article to see the reasons why young men are not interested in practicing a profession.

Some young persons hope they will inherit a fortune from their parents

They think that the fortune earned by their parents that they will inherit, will be sufficient to fulfill their needs for their whole life. God says in the Holy Scripture:

An inheritance gained hurriedly at the beginning will not be blessed in the end. (Proverbs 20:21)(NASB)

No matter how great the fortune is, it comes to end in a day, and when one inherited a fortune easily, he will not treasure it and will not administer this fortune well. So, he will squander it away very quickly. I saw many young people who squandered their fortune very quickly, because they hadn’t done anything to earn it and they didn’t know how to administer it correctly. One who acquired a profession, will be able to earn the necessary resources to provide for him and for his family and he will earn a stable income using his profession to serve people.

Some young people trust the relations or the good name their parents have made for themselves

Children and young people are used to think that everything will be so easy in their lives, they will be accepted everywhere by everyone because of the good name of their parents. The Holy Scripture says:

A good name is to be more desired than great wealth, favor is better than silver and gold. (Proverbs 22:1)(NASB)

But this truth is real only for each one individually. Every person makes his own name through the way he reports to others. Beware not to smear your parents’ name by the way you yourself behave and report to people. If you don’t practice a profession, and if you are a lazy person, you will never gain people’s respect and you will not make a good name for your generation.

Some young persons trust the high position of their parents, promised them for future

This is a cheat. Times change and people are even more changeable. Those who are appreciated now, can be despised tomorrow. But the Bible says:

Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men. (Proverbs 22:29)(NASB)

The prophet Daniel was held prisoner in Judah and sent to Babylon. There he learnt well and he became a very skilled and faithful servant of the king. He was a righteous man, gained all people’s respect and was used in a miraculous way for his nation. Then the kings of Medes conquered Babylon and set another kingdom. When these people found out about Daniel, they looked for him and he entered the king’s personal service, because he was a righteous and a skilled man in his work.

Choose a profession today and do your utmost to obtain that skill, so that you may serve people well, win a good name, gain people’s respect and a fortune for your children.
