How to overcome indecision when you want to propose to a girl?

Question:

I’m in love with a girl. I want to ask her to marry me, but I’m not sure. The fear of being rejected makes me undecided and I keep putting off the proposal. What should I do? How do I become more determined?

I invite you to listen to my advice in this video, because it is very important for a man to be decisive, and not just when he has to propose. God has left the initiative to men, including marriage. The man must take the first step. In the Bible this law is laid out, the man is the one who will leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife. The initiative belongs to him:

For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. (Genesis 2:24 NASB)

It’s true, we are often afraid to make decisions because we don’t know what the consequences will be. That is why we are called to be wise men, to continually search the Holy Scriptures, to be watchful in prayer. But we must also be courageous men who, in our decisions, can move forward and take responsibility for our decisions. If you are not a man of resolve, be a man of resolve, be a man, act like a man.

If you are in love with a girl, if you have the freedom from God that she is the one you want to live your whole life with and serve God together, then all you have to do is take the plunge. Be wise, prepare well for this event. I invite you to read the following advice:

  1. How do you ask a girl to marry you?
  2. How do you ask for a girl’s hand in marriage from her parents?

Read the advice and make a good plan, go propose. Don’t be shy about proposing. Act like a man, not a child. Speak well, tell her what’s in your heart and ask this girl for her heart. If the girl asks for time, give her enough time to think. She must have every assurance and freedom that she wants to be your wife.

I also invite you to listen to the advice in this sermon:

Definitely get hold of the “Someday, A Marriage Without Regrets” course and study it. It will give you good preparation for a regret-free marriage. I invite you to attend for good preparation for yourself, but also to be able to teach others afterwards. The session will take place in the “Grace” church, located at Ciocârliei Street 2/8, Chisinau, from September 5 to 17, 2016. For details, contact: +373 69 966779 or info@precept.md
