Parents will become Christians after their children’s marriage

I have noticed that some people postpone the decision to follow Christ until their children get married. They are afraid that it will be difficult for them, that they will not be able to get married without pagan customs, without drunkenness or other things, because their relatives will not understand them. It is one of the worst mistakes a man makes spiritually, and this is why.

1. You don’t know how long you have to live

How do you know if you’re going to see your children get married? Who guarantees that you will live until then? And if you die without believing in Christ with all your heart and without experiencing a new birth, know that you have no eternal life, but will perish, for the Savior said:

Jesus responded and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3 NASB)

2. You set a bad example for children

God made us parents not only to provide food and clothing for our children. Our main responsibility is to lead them to God and to give them a worthy example to follow, to teach them His Word, as it is written:

“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4 NASB)

But if you refuse to listen to God and repent, what example can you give your children? What else can you teach them about God if you stay away from Him? And then, after their marriage, you will weep bitterly and pray that they will repent. But aren’t you guilty for postponing your return to Christ for so many years, and even now you still deceive yourself and put it off?

  1. You’re wasting your life

The years and days we live in have been given to us by God to glorify Him and to lay a good foundation for eternal life. When you die, even if you manage to accept Christ before death, you will go to the judgment seat of Christ to be judged for the good or evil you did when you lived in the flesh and to receive your reward. Why should you receive a reward if you have accepted Christ in the last years of your life, when you have no strength or health and can no longer work for the Lord?

Here are the consequences of the postponement that springs from your hardened heart. Think well and hurry to accept Christ today. Make the decision to follow Christ fully right now. Go to church and tell the pastor that you have decided to be baptized and join the church. If you live in Chisinau or in nearby towns, you are very welcome at the “Bunavestire” Church that I am pastoring, to take a catechism course, i.e. preparation for baptism. Contact deacon Nicolae Grigoriu at +373 (68) 060601 or by email: grigoriunicolae@gmail.com to register. The lessons take place every Sunday starting at 13:00 in the “Harul” Church on 2/8 Ciocârliei Street. Be wise and don’t procrastinate. Hurry to make peace with God and become a disciple of Christ.
