Have some spiritual gifts ended up?

Some time ago I received this question, and I want to answer to it today. So, here is the question:

I studied the Bible study ”Spiritual gifts” and I know their purposes and what every gift means. But I have a question. Have some spiritual gifts stopped to be present in the church?  Some say yes, some say no  and I want to know what the Holy Scripture says. I know that you can give me an answer, so I ask you the question.

The gifts will stop when what is perfect  comes

After he explains the subject of spiritual gifts in a deeper way, in chapter 12 of the Ist Epistle to the Corinthians, Apostle Paul says in the next chapter that spiritual gifts, if they are used without love, they are not useful, but bring only discord, as it happened in the church from Corinth and what happens today in many churches. The Apostle writes thus:

Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part; but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. (1 Corinthians 13:8-10)(NASB)

So, spiritual gifts will end when the perfect things will be set and we will inherit them together with our Lord Jesus Christ. The important fact is that they will stop all at once, and not one after another.

Now we need all spiritual gifts

I do not know any reference in the Holy Scriptures that would say that any of the gifts will stop before others, or that they were just during the time of the apostles and of the first church and they no longer exist today. In the Epistle to Ephesians, Apostle Paul wrote:

And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-15)(NASB)

Those who question the existence of certain gifts today, more often refer to the gift of apostle. But just about this gift it is said that it is necessary to the church, namely the body of Christ, until we attain to the unity of the faith, to a mature man. The church is a living organism and it always grows. It takes all the spiritual gifts to be present so that this divine body may work very well.

Do you know the spiritual gifts that you received when you entered the covenant with Jesus Christ? How do you use these gifts to serve others? If you do not know the gifts and how to serve people according to them, I advise you to look for the “Spiritual Gifts” course and study it in a group or individually. This should be your priority and urgency, if you want to be useful in the Body of Christ, which is the Church.
