Can you see God’s face in a dream?

QUESTION:

Hello, Pastor! I have two questions that I can not find answer or I can not find the right one. I hope you can help me. Five years ago I had a dream. I was in heaven and there I saw Someone. I think it was Jesus. He was neither young nor old, I could see his face. It was light blue (like the sky), but it was brilliant. I thought he was Jesus, because he seemed to have the likeness of people. Better say, we have a face similar to what I saw. I remember that at that time I was still asking God to show me that he exists. I was looking at Him, but with more fear. He was very beautiful, he was not earthly and had the features of  perfect face.Through that light blue I could see all the lines of that person’s face. Is God showing? Do I have to be wholeheartedly convinced that He was? Or was that someone else? He said no word, He just looked at me

In the Bible it is written that God has revealed in many ways, and one of them is also dreams and visions. But you must know that the criterion by which we must check how solid these revelations are is the Word of God, for Satan can also turn into an angel of light to bring us a wrong message. If you read carefully the Bible, you will find different spiritual beings that people have seen. Here is, for example, what the prophet Daniel saw:

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, who was named Belteshazzar; and the message was true and one of great conflict, but he understood the message and had an understanding of the vision. In those days, I, Daniel, had been mourning for three entire weeks. I did not eat any tasty food, nor did meat or wine enter my mouth, nor did I use any ointment at all until the entire three weeks were completed. On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, while I was by the bank of the great river, that is, the Tigris, I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, there was a certain man dressed in linen, whose waist was girded with a belt of pure gold of Uphaz.  His body also was like beryl, his face had the appearance of lightning, his eyes were like flaming torches, his arms and feet like the gleam of polished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a tumult. Now I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, while the men who were with me did not see the vision; nevertheless, a great dread fell on them, and they ran away to hide themselves.(Daniel 10:1-7)(NASB)

You can see, Daniel did not even try to define who he was, but it was possible that he was an angel, for he came with a message to Daniel, and that was what the angels was doing; that is, they were bringing messages from God. This is why the angels are called angles, because their name means “messenger”.

You must understand that the most important thing you need to know about God is not the appearance, but the character, and to know this you must deeply study the Word of God. Make this your daily discipline. I recommend you to get the Kay Arthur course, “Lord, I Want to Know You”, because it is an exceptional course where you will study what the Bible says about the character of God.

In the Gospel of John, it is written:

No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.(John 1:18)(NASB)

Look for knowing the Lord Jesus Christ, for He is the one who explains God.
