Christ is risen! (Easter Message 2019)

On April 15, around the feast of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, a large part of one of the largest Christian symbols in Europe – Notre Dame Cathedral – was destroyed in a terrible fire. According to police, about 2,000 Christian places of worship have been desecrated in the past two years. In Germany, 4 such incidents took place last month. Last Sunday, April 21, as Catholics, Protestants and evangelicals celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, Islamist terrorists blew up several buildings in Sri Lanka to intentionally kill Christians who came to celebrate the Savior’s Resurrection. We are witnessing a fierce spiritual struggle that began long ago, from creation, and which intensifies from day to day. Mankind received a great defeat when the first humans went against God’s command, for through Adam and Eve sin entered the world and spread to us all. But in His great love, God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins and on the third day He rose again. The resurrection of Christ is the greatest victory of the spiritual warfare in which the visible and the invisible world are framed.

The enemy of human souls wanted to deceive mankind again so that we may ignore or not believe in the Resurrection of Christ so that we may not benefit from the gift of eternal life and a resurrection similar to His. Here’s how it was:

Now while they were on their way, some of the men from the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened. And when they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, and said, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came at night and stole Him while we were asleep.’ And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will appease him and keep you out of trouble.” And they took the money and did as they had been instructed; and this story was widely spread among the Jews and is to this day. (Matthew 28:11-15 NASB)

This rumor spread not only among the Jews. The number of those who spread this rumor, or who invented other lies and led many to perish, has increased. Rejection of faith in the Lord Jesus and His teaching as we find it written in the Bible means condemnation to eternal death. This Easter we wish for you to believe wholeheartedly in our Savior Jesus Christ who left heaven and came to this earth, became incarnate and lived a sinless life, then died to pay for the sins of all people and was buried. On the third day He rose again and in this way He overcame death and proved that He is what He said – the Son of God. Let us believe with all our hearts in Him, let us walk in His ways and wait for His coming soon, for it is written:

”But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be discovered. Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found spotless and blameless by Him, at peace.” (2 Peter 3:10-14 NASB)

We invite you to grow spiritually together by studying the Holy Scriptures and by reading articles and watching shows and messages published every day on the portal http://www.moldovacrestina.md and on the YouTube channel “Moldova Creştină.”
