Question:
I am not married yet, but I am going to marry soon. My coworkers are married and they are talking a lot about their sexual relations with their wives and the times of abstinence. My question is this: From the perspective of the Bible, when a man should abstain from sex with his wife? My colleagues say that if they come to their wives during those 3-5 days of the menstrual cycle they become unclean.
Physical relationship is an intimate one
Therefore, it is not good for a married man or woman to talk about these things with others, only when it’s strictly necessary to solve certain problems.
Sexual relations are prohibited during the wife’s menstrual cycle
It is written about this thing in the Scripture:
Also you shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness during her menstrual impurity. (Leviticus 18:19)(NASB)
God rebuked people for their transgressions through the prophet Ezekiel and said this:
In you they have uncovered their fathers’ nakedness; in you they have humbled her who was unclean in her menstrual impurity. (Ezekiel 22:10)(NASB)
There are other circumstances and situations in the life of a married couple when they can not have sex.As the sexual relationship is a manifestation of the love of those two, so abstinence from sexual relations with the spouse who can not meet this marital debt for a period of time is (maybe even a greater) manifestation of love.
