What should the demon-possessed person do to be set free?

Question:

I hear devils talking inside me. They even say they don’t want to come out. I’m a Christian. I was baptized into the Baptist denomination. I pray every day. I read the Bible. I believe in God and in the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus on the cross. I’ve had problems with demons for years. I have returned to God and yet this problem continues. I would very much like to get rid of this problem so that I can continue my life. I am only 35 years old and I have no children. Please help me.

I am saddened to hear about the problem you have and I pray that God will help you to be set free and to live a quiet life with peace and joy in your heart and to serve Christ. In Scripture we find the following case written:

When they came to the crowd, a man came up to Jesus, falling on his knees before Him and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son, because he has seizures and suffers terribly; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. And I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him.” And Jesus answered and said, “You unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me.”  And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was healed at once.Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” And He said to them, “Because of your meager faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. (Matthew 17:14-21 NASB)

I think you’ve already noticed a problem similar to the one you have. The son of that man was tormented and the disciples were powerless. When the boy was brought to the Lord Jesus, the devil left at the rebuke of the Savior. However, when the disciples asked, the Lord Jesus told them what to do when He was no longer on this earth. They had to solve such problems through fasting and prayer. Therefore, I advise you to go to your pastor now and tell him about the problems you have (I suppose he already knows them well) and to ask him and the whole church to pray and fast so that you will be free from these spirits that you have. They may not have enough faith that they can do something, but you have to insist. May the Lord give faith to both the pastor and the church and set a special day for all of you to pray and ask for deliverance from this spirit and for God to give you the Holy Spirit. If you do not receive deliverance from the first time, repeat such days of fasting and prayer and persevere until the Lord gives victory and you will be set free.

May the Lord help you and free you as soon as possible from this evil spirit so that you may always have joy and peace.
