Will Lucifer live forever?

I received the following question about Lucifer:

If Adam had managed to eat from the tree of life, would he have become immortal? Genesis 3:22. If so, the next question: did Lucifer eat? Will he forever, but in hell? How to interpret Revelation 20:10?

Yes, the Bible says so. God banished man from the Garden of Eden not to eat from the tree of life and then live forever in the fallen sinful state in which he was:

Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”– therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken. (Genesis 3:22-23)(NASB)

Sin has put a wall of separation between man and God, it broke their relationship and communication and God prevented man to remain forever in this state, involving the punishment of sin, that is the torments of hell. In His love, God has made and then brought out a plan of salvation for people and this was achieved through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ:

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Unlike humans who can receive forgiveness and the possibility to restore the relationship with God, Lucifer is condemned to an eternal torment, as Scripture says:

And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. (Revelation 20:10)(NASB)

And so it is, Lucifer would be tortured there forever and ever, as it is written. This verse does not require a different interpretation.

It is sad that people who rejected God’s love and forgiveness that is in Jesus Christ, will share the same fate of Lucifer, that means that their souls will be tormented forever and ever into the lake of fire and brimstone:

Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. “And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.” (Revelation 14:9-11)(NASB)

Even if here refers directly to those who will live during the time of the Antichrist and will worship him, the truth applies to all those who have rejected salvation is in Christ Jesus. Let us hasten to believe in our Savior to receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life with Him in the kingdom of heaven.
