About weight loss (the biblical method for ladies)

Some time ago I discussed with one of my friends and he told me sorrowfully that his 16 years old daughter is obsessed by the wish to slim and she doesn’t eat almost anything, all her efforts are focused towards this and her health began to be badly affected. If she goes on in this way, she will be hospitalised. My wife, Nastica, told us how, being a student at the University of Medicine, once, at the hospital, they showed them a very slender woman, who couldn’t be recovered, but she was already psychicaly affected because of dieting. When they asked her what she had eaten that day, that woman replied: “I ate very much! I ate quite some stalks of parsley…” It seems that very many girls and women are obsessed by the thought of dieting. To a certain extent, this wish is dictated by mass-media, but they don’t realize this thing. In this article I propose to you some practical instructions from the Word of God, in regarding to the subject of dieting.

1.Avoid gluttony

When Jesus Christ was speaking to his disciples about His second coming, He told them: “Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap” (Luke 21:34)(NASB). In biblical times, as it is nowadays, many times when people refer to the heart, they mean the mind. So, gluttony is a thing that begins in the man’s mind, he gives full play and doesn’t put any limit for food. It is important to learn abstinence and not to eat without any limits and not all that comes in front of you. This will not only make you suffer of obesity, but it will badly affect your health. According to this verse, the worst thing is that since your mind begins to worry of food, drink or worries of life, you don’t put priority of the relationship with God. This is the greatest evil that one can do to oneself. Firstly, look to maintain a beautiful relation with God. And how many give full play to stuff themselves with food, others make of dieting or of the way they look a greater priority than that of building and maintaining a nice relationshp with God. Don’t follow the example of these people and…

2.Don’t concern yourself exaggeratedly with the way you look in exterior

This is the reason why many women and girls apply different reducing cure when it is not the case to do this. Apostle Paul wrote these wonderful teachings for the righteous women: “Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.”(1 Timothy 2:9–10)(NASB). Even if here he speaks about clothing and jewels, it is emphaseized that it is waited from the righteous women to lay emphasis more on the inner adornment than on the outer one. The exaggerated bother of the dieting problem when it is not the case is also a way of exaggerating the exterior. Attention, the Word of God doesn’t teach you to neglect totally the way you look or you dress, but don’t make out of this a bigger priority than of your relationship with God. That’s why…

3.Look up at building up a nice character

In his first Epistle, Apostle Paul writes to all righteous women this: “Your adornment must not be merely external–braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands; just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear” (1 Peter 3:3–6)(NASB)

Follow these advice and you will be pleasant to God and to people.
