Let us learn common sense2

I would like to continue our lessons on common sense from the Word of God. As I said earlier during our English camp we studied about common sense every evening. In this article I would like to draw attention to two important points about a person with common sense. Proverbs 1 continues like so, “Hear, my son, your father’s instruction And do not forsake your mother’s teaching;Indeed, they are a graceful wreath to your head And ornaments about your neck. My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. If they say, “Come with us, Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us ambush the innocent without cause;Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, Even whole, as those who go down to the pit;We will find all kinds of precious wealth, We will fill our houses with spoil;Throw in your lot with us, We shall all have one purse,”My son, do not walk in the way with them. Keep your feet from their path,For their feet run to evil And they hasten to shed blood. Indeed, it is useless to spread the baited net In the sight of any bird; But they lie in wait for their own blood; They ambush their own lives. So are the ways of everyone who gains by violence; It takes away the life of its possessors.”

1. A person with common sense obeys his parents. Most teen-agers today are taught to believe that they are wiser than their parents. I heard one person say it like this, “they (our parents) grew up in a different time and because of that they do not understand us because we are more modern, etc.” Good parents will teach you good things for life because they have experience, which you lack being a teenager. If you will obey your parents then you will avoid many problems but if you want trouble all the time then you will believe that you are wiser than your parents and you will not take their advice. Of course your parents’ advice should come from the Word of God. The wise man Solomon was advised by his father, David, from the Word of God of course.

2. A person with common sense is not manipulated by evil people. If he will obey his parents then he will be able to avoid evil people. It is easy to recognize evil people by their evil actions. They do not want to be alone in their evil schemes. Look at those who promote immorality, they want to convince the entire world that they are o.k. and that others should be like them. They seek to do evil to the innocent (maybe you are that innocent one which they are seeking to manipulate and cause harm). They go to public schools in order to teach innocent children about immorality. What innocent child needs to be taught about immorality? That child will have problems for the rest of his life just because some evil people want to teach him about immorality, an abominable action as the Bible says. They are controlled by the love of money, meaning that they never have enough, they are never satisfied no matter how much they have. What kind of friends are you surrounded with? Are you already being manipulated? Maybe you think that it is not so bad to be with evil people, if so let us have a look at their future. It is interesting to see the fact that they set traps for the innocent (if you are not careful you will fall into their traps). They are the ones who end up falling into their own traps, destroying their own lives, and finally they loose their lives.

Do you want to be a person with common sense? It is very easy, all you need to do is study the Word of God and apply It to your life daily.
