Horoscope – the truth and the effects

Most people became so used with horoscope, that most newspapers and magazines have a special column for it, and national television has a special person who announces horoscope daily. What does God say about this and what effects does horoscope have upon people?

Horoscope practice is evil

God says in Deuteronomy:

There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will drive them out before you. You shall be blameless before the LORD your God. For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do so. (Deuteronomy 18:10–14)(NASB)

Astrology is not a deed-based science, according to the Bible it is “divination, witchcraft” that has the purpose to “tell you the future”. Whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord. Who is to blame for this sin? Both the one who divines, and that who goes to the diviner to find the future. Both parts will bear the same consequences. Can you realize how cursed are those who practice these things and promote them even through mass media, and how much curse draw upon themselves people who look for their “services” either consciously or out of ignorance.

Soothsayers can not tell the truth

In the days of Jeremiah, the prophet, he was the only one who was telling the people of Judah they will be held prisoners by Babylonians. All those false prophets, soothsayers, diviners were foretelling peace and silence. Here is what God says concerning horoscope:

But as for you, do not listen to your prophets, your divines, your dreamers, your soothsayers or your sorcerers who speak to you, saying, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon.’ (Jeremiah 27:9)(NASB)

All people were held prisoners, as God said, not as soothsayers were speaking to them. Horoscope is a tool of the devil used to foretell things that come true and in this way, the devil draws man’s attention to a lie, so that he may distance man from essential things of God. Don’t be deceived.

Horoscope is not God’s revelation

The second chapter of the book of the prophet Daniel relates the case of Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, who had an awful dream, but didn’t remember it. He called all magicians, the conjureres, the sorcerers to tell the king the dream and its interpretation. None of them was able to do what the king had ordered them and when Daniel brought the answer, he told the king:

Daniel answered before the king and said, “As for the mystery about which the king has inquired, neither wise men, conjurers, magicians nor diviners are able to declare it to the king. However, there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will take place in the latter days This was your dream and the visions in your mind while on your bed. (Daniel 2:27–28)(NASB)

Don’t ever appeal to horoscope, because this is not a revelation from God, but it is a detestable thing that distances you from God’s truth. This practice destroys the life of all those who follow it.

People who practice horoscope are condemned eternally. God says in Deuteronomy that a soothsayer is equal to a sorcerer and horoscope is similar to sorcery. The last chapter of the last book from the Bible – Revelation, contains these words:

But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8)(NASB)

If you appealed to horoscope until now, give this detestable practice up. Buy a Bible, look for a church and a group of people who study the Word of God. Discipline yourself to study and to know God’s character, who wants to give you a future and a hope, and has all power to do this.
