Have the Greeks kept the faith as it was given by the Lord Jesus and the apostles?

Question:

If it is as you say, there is no other teaching except than the Bible (which many take as a book of salvation), why do the Greeks baptize little children and 98% of them are orthodox? The Bible was mostly written in Greek, and St. Paul, Titus and Andrew preached the Gospel directly to the Greeks. Thessalonica, Corinth, and even Ephesus were and are in Greece (now Ephesus is in Turkey). Did the Greeks forget how they were directly taught by the disciples of Christ, or did they all misunderstand? They have not gone through communism, and since the years of the apostolic church have the same unaltered faith! May God bless you!

In the time of Jesus Christ, not only the Greeks in Greece spoke this language, but all the people of the great Roman Empire. The Greeks today speak a language that is quite different from the old koine dialect in which the New Testament was written, but that does not change much. The apostle Paul warned the disciples about everything that was to be changed, and the Greeks, as a nation, have a sinful flesh like the other peoples and are subject to the same temptations and weaknesses. Here are the warnings Paul left when he spoke with the elders of Ephesus:

Therefore, I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God. Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears.  And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified. (Acts 20:26–32) (NASB)

Savage wolves had been coming since ancient times, and since then many have been raised among Christians, who have taught people perverse things to draw away the disciples after them. That is why the Apostle Paul said he entrusted them to God and the Word of His grace, who can build them up in spirit and can give them an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. The Word of God is written in the Bible; therefore, we must return to studying well what is written in the Bible, to understand and to distinguish the things that have been given by the Savior and the apostles of the perverse things that have been introduced over the centuries by those who wanted to draw away the disciples after them. May God enlighten your mind through His Holy Spirit so that you can understand His Word and have this holy discernment. Follow the doctrine of Christ, as it is left in the Bible.
