Are Christians allowed to go to the beach?

Question:

I would also like to know your opinion about Christians going to the beach (sea, pool) in public places, if it is allowed or not and what are the sins that could appear here. I mean both the female and the male side! I am waiting for an answer. Thank you. God bless you!

All people need quality rest, and Christians are no exception. Sunbathing is good for everyone and strengthens their health. And you go to the beach in a bathing suit. I guess the question was asked considering that nowadays some men, but especially women, come to the beach in short swimsuits  that provoke sexual temptations, or even go to extremes, coming to the beach topless (women) or completely without clothes. Those who do so must know that it is a bad thing because they become a great cause of stumbling for others, and nudity, or scanty and provocative clothing (which some today call sexy clothing) causes people to commit fornication in their hearts and not only.

Sexually provocative clothing many people wear under normal circumstances, not at the beach. A God-fearing Christian will never do so because he understands the seriousness of the words of the Holy Scriptures that say:

Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive apparel, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness. (1 Timothy 2:9-10 NASB)

The principle of dressing properly, with humility and consciousness must also be applied when going to the beach.

In this age that claims to be very modern and educated, there is a lot of paganism and living according to worldly lusts, and we Christians have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and by grace we have been saved, but also by grace we live our daily lives each day. Let’s take into account that…

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus.” (Titus 2:11-13 NASB)

Going to the beach, think if there is something there or someone that will draw you into paganism and the worldly lusts that God tells us we must break with. Take care with your swimsuit and the way you will appear and behave there, so as not to arouse the desires of those around you.

If you have chosen to go to the beach, avoid places where men and women come who dress provocatively.

And if you are convinced that it is not appropriate for a Christian to go to the beach, do not go because it would mean that you are acting contrary to your conscience and this is still a sin, as it is written:

“But the one who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.” (Romans 14:23 NASB)

At the same time, I think it is not good to impose your opinion on others, but to keep the conviction for yourself…

“The faith which you have, have as your own conviction before God. Happy is the one who does not condemn himself in what he approves.“ (Romans 14:22 NASB)

May God help you to act wisely and avoid being a stumbling block in word and deed.
