The pastor visited us and while with us, he took my hand and told me that it is not good to wear the wedding ring. I told him we decided with my husband that we will\u00a0<i>wear it<\/i>. Then he told me that Ananias and Sapphira also took the decision together. This saddened me very much&#8230; What is the right and wise way for us to act in this situation? <\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I hope that my answer will be read by your pastor as well and I pray that it will bring peace and harmony in your relationship and it will contribute to the growth of your local church and all the churches where wearing wedding rings creates tension and misunderstandings.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-91072\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.moldovacrestina.md\/2016\/03\/12823077_1043838538990749_419318759_o-1024x641.jpg\" alt=\"Verighete\" width=\"640\" height=\"401\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><b>The meaning of the wedding ring<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>In contrast to other rings, the wedding ring is not a jewelry, but it is a symbol of the marriage covenant. This symbol is known internationally. In every country or nation the presence of the wedding ring on the hand tells people that you are married.<\/p>\n<p>God builds His relationships with people through covenants and for each of them He left a reminding sign. The sign of the New Covenant is The Last Supper. On 11-23th of April I will teach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/938019942902094\/\">the session Bible Doctrines<\/a> in Chi\u0219in\u0103u. We will also study the course <a href=\"http:\/\/precept.editwebshop.co.uk\/index.php\/default\/by-series\/precept-upon-precept.html?p=3\">\u201cCovenant\u201d<\/a>. On 5-17th of September I will teach the session <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/929892777054575\/\">Spiritual Counselling<\/a>,\u00a0where I will offer the necessary training about teaching this course to pastors, preachers, missionaries and spiritual counselors. Everyone who wants to learn how to share the Word of God is invited.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Let us be pastors worthy of honor<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>It is people&#8217;s personal choice to wear or not the wedding ring. It is not a good thing and it does not bring honor to a pastor to put this kind of restrictions. God teaches us in the Bible that we, pastors, should be worthy of honor, meaning that our\u00a0person and behavior should instill respect.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps\">The imposition of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">these restrictions<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">diminishes<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the respect\u00a0he<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">has<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and<\/span>\u00a0thus<span class=\"hps\">\u00a0makes him a\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"hps\">pastor<\/span>\u00a0whose teachings\u00a0of God <span class=\"hps\">will not be<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">accepted by the saints. <\/span>Peter gives us this advice:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><p>So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: <span class=\"verse-2\">shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly;\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"verse-3\">not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. <\/span><span class=\"verse-4\">And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. <\/span>(1 Peter 5:1-4)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"result_box\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">We need to act<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">with<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">respect towards the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">saints<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">whom\u00a0we lead and we should know well\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"hps\">the limits<\/span>\u00a0of<span class=\"hps\">\u00a0counselling<\/span>, to the\u00a0<span class=\"hps\">exhortations<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">admonitions<\/span><span class=\"hps\">\u00a0we<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">give<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0<span class=\"hps\">others<\/span> and <span class=\"hps\">not to<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">slip<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">into<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">totalitarianism<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">or<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">legalism.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It seems inappropriate to me how the sin of Ananias and Sapphira has been interpreted. They have agreed to\u00a0hide a part of the won sum\u00a0and tried to deceive the apostles and the Holy Spirit. That was\u00a0their sin, not the wearing of wedding rings. The apostles respected their liberty and did not force them to sell their land or donate their money. When the pastor or preacher forces the interpretation of the Biblical text to justify a certain rule or request, through this he loses his authority and the power of a preacher, because the saints he leads will become reluctant to the rest of the teachings received from him.<\/p>\n<h2><b>How to act now?\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Go and meet with your pastor and tell him about the respect you have for him and that you want it to be even greater. That is why tell him that you want your decision to be respected and\u00a0the decision to wear the wedding ring is a symbol of your marriage covenant. Do\u00a0not let the sorrow\u00a0you have to\u00a0give you a <span class=\"hps\">sprig<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of bitterness. Follow God&#8217;s urge as it is written:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><p>We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labour among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,<span class=\"verse-13\"> and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work.
