\nHow can I explain the fact that it is not okay to take the Lord\u2019s supper if you have not yet been baptized? I understand this teaching but I also know that in some churches, people are allowed to take the Lord\u2019s supper without being baptized. So, is it okay or not to take part in the Lord\u2019s supper if a person has not yet been baptized?<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
On the day of Pentecost, when the Christian Church arose after the Apostle Peter preached and many people repented, we find the following . . .<\/p>\n
\n41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized ; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. (Acts 2:41)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\u00a0The next verse in the text tells us . . .<\/p>\n
\n42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2:42)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
As we see, there is clear order here – first baptism and then the breaking of bread. It is not the other way around. Through faith and baptism a person enters the New Covenant with Jesus Christ and by participating in the Lord’s Supper he reminds himself \u00a0of the death of Jesus Christ as well as examines himself, his lifestyle in the light of the New Covenant with his Savior.<\/p>\n
