Today I walked near the College of Medicine from Chisinau and I saw many graduates who wanted to become students of that institution and were ready to apply to this college. Yesterday I talked with a young man who did not know and had not yet decided what college to apply to and what profession to choose. I asked him several questions which I think helped him to make a wise decision. I thought it would be useful to publish an article in this regard.<\/p>\n

What do you want to do with your life?<\/h2>\n

When it comes to choosing a profession, it is important to think about what you want to do with your life, that is not so long as it seems now, when you are 16 or 23. Time is the substance from which our life is made and this time is consumed continuously. We can not stop it even for a moment. What do you want to do with the rest of the time that you have to spend on this earth? What do you want to accomplish? What achievements would you like to have when you lie on your deathbed? I know you are not thrilled to think about it, but it is a reality that everyone must pass through and, thus, you must think how to use your life. Most people, when they lie on their deathbed, have a great disappointment that they have used their time to make a career, to earn money, to become famous and, in fact, they have never sought to do good to the people around them and, before leaving this world, there is nobody who would have to tell them some words of gratitude.<\/p>\n

Do not waste time learning things that you will not use to achieve the purpose of your life!<\/h2>\n

Some young people go to learn just to fill their time, or because their friends go somewhere to learn and they do not want to be left behind their friends. It is not wise to do so. Where do you go to college? Why do you want to go there?\u00a0 Is it just to have an university degree? It\u2019s not worth it \u2026 Look around to see how many of those with university degree do not work anywhere, are busybodies, and live on their parents earning. They have become so because they had no purpose for their lives when they went to college nor have any now. Do not be one of them.<\/p>\n

Do not put your heart to get rich<\/h2>\n

Today it is fashionable to weary oneself to get rich. One can sacrifice his family, parents, children, health, everything, just to earn a lot of money. It would be so good if they heed this word of God in the Scripture:<\/p>\n

\n

Do not weary yourself to gain wealth, cease from your consideration of it<\/em>. When you set your eyes on it, it is gone.
\nFor wealth<\/em> certainly makes itself wings like an eagle that flies toward<\/em> the heavens. (Proverbs 23:4-5)(NASB)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

If you choose your profession only to earn a lot of money, you should know that you will have a lot of misery and disappointment in life. Do not do it. Moreover, in the New Testament God also says:<\/p>\n

\n

But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:9-10)(NASB)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Learn the profession that will serve people the best<\/h2>\n

Each of us has certain skills that God gave us so we can serve others. So, yesterday, I talked with a young man who was a very good footballer and wanted to coach, but because he hadn\u2019t been accepted into a team, he wanted to go to a technical school. Asking him some questions, I helped him understand that it was the best for him to apply to a teacher training university, so that he might become a school coach and might teach children in the future, and help them have beautiful characters and share with them about our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

When we learn a profession according to the skills God has given us, we will bring joy to many people and we will be respected by them. In other words, it is better to be a good mechanic that will bring joy to all whose cars he repaird than to become a doctor and ruin those who will come to be healed by you. The Word of God says this:<\/p>\n

\n

Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men. (Proverbs 22:29)(NASB)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Fulfill the urgent needs of the country<\/h2>\n

In our country there is a huge shortage of teachers. Teachers are badly paid. Students and their parents do not show respect and appreciation for the work of teachers. Because of low salaries those who graduated as teachers, choose to go somewhere abroad to work. But who will fulfill this great need of the nation? What will happen if we grow an illiterate and without values generation? Do we not deprive them of the future? If you feel the calling, apply to a teacher training university to become a teacher.<\/p>\n

Journalists are people who have the most influence on the morality and mentality of the whole nation. Unfortunately, we realized that there are many journalists who do not have values \u200b\u200band use the media to destroy the existing values. It is a great need for incorruptible journalists who will restore the values \u200b\u200bin the media. Maybe you want to become this kind of journalist?<\/p>\n

Country\u2019s political class remains the same for a long time. The saddest is that we almost do not have incorruptible people, that would really seek the good of the nation and when elections approach, people are disappointed and do not even want to vote for anyone. What do you think of becoming a future politician who will change the situation in our country?<\/p>\n

Choose the profession that will make you effective in preaching the Gospel<\/h2>\n

Lord Jesus has called all Christians to be witnesses to Him in our home, our country and to the ends of the earth. Apostle Paul said that for him to live was Christ and to die was a gain. In other words, his life had no value unless he shared with others the Gospel. This feeling and reason must be the motivation of each of us. Think of what profession you could choose to serve people through the Gospel and to tell them continuously about salvation?<\/p>\n

God help you make a right choice on your future profession!<\/p>\n
