What people and what perfection\u00a0does the passage from\u00a0Hebrews 11:40 refer to?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The whole chapter 11 of the\u00a0Epistle to Hebrews tells us about the heroes of faith whose example we are exhorted to follow.<\/span> To understand verse 40 it is important to read it in the context of the previous verse:<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised,\u00a0because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.\u00a0(Hebrews 11:39-40)(NASB)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This passage clearly shows us that people referred to in verse 40 are the same heroes of faith from the old time, the period of the\u00a0Old Testament, and it is written about them\u00a0in the whole chapter 11. The\u00a0perfection which both they and we had to reach is to receive what they had been\u00a0promised \u2013 the gift of eternal life and\u00a0inheritance in\u00a0the kingdom of heaven.<\/span><\/p>\n

God help us to follow their example of\u00a0faith, so that we may also reach\u00a0that perfection and\u00a0accept by faith what God has promised when He said:<\/span><\/p>\n
