SECT<\/em> is a group with distinctive religious, political or philosophical beliefs. They are described as newly formed religious groups that form to protest elements of their parent religion.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Synonyms<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

Usually, the word sect is attributed to a minority group who\u00a0have been departed by\u00a0a heresy and therefore, the words \u201cheretic\u201d and \u201csectarian\u201d have the same meaning to people.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not everyone called \u201csectarians\u201d are heretics<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

Usually, some majority confession followers or leaders\u00a0from a country\u00a0tend to declare as sects and sectarians those who are in minority.<\/span> Therefore, do not hurry\u00a0to categorize as heretics all those who are often wrongly named or nicknamed \u201csectarians.\u201d<\/span> Not the number\u00a0of followers decides whether a\u00a0denomination is a sect or not, but\u00a0the way it relates to the sound doctrine of the Lord Jesus.<\/span> It is good to know what is the true Church <\/a>and what are \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

The features of the sects<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

There are many specific features of the sects, but I want to highlight a few of them:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Sects (heretics) leave the sound doctrine of God\u2019s Word and add other books usually written by\u00a0their leader and\u00a0they give them the same authority as to the Scripture, but in reality, they give\u00a0those (heretical) writings more importance and listen to them more than the truth of the Scripture.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. \nSects claim that they are the \u201conly true church\u201d and that everyone else is lost, will not be saved, do not have the Holy Spirit and will not inherit the kingdom of God.<\/span> They talk and behave just like\u00a0they have monopolized God\u2019s kingdom.<\/span>\n<\/li>\n
  3. Sects are founded and run by totalitarian leaders who\u00a0introduce and have excessive control over any victims trapped in that sect.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Why do Orthodox call Protestants\u00a0sectarians?<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

    Not all Orthodox Christians call and consider\u00a0Protestants as heretics, but some call\u00a0Christians of other denominations \u201csectarians\u201d because they are\u00a0in minority, because they are not Orthodox and especially because they do not accept as authority\u00a0in matters of faith what the Orthodox Church calls Holy Tradition and about which it says that it has the same authority as the Scriptures.<\/span> It is true that from\u00a0Protestants and Orthodox and Catholics have detached many sects that believe and preach heresies, such as Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses,\u00a0Moonies, Mormons, Bessarion\u2019s heresy, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Study the Scriptures to be able to\u00a0distinguish true Christians from heretics and the sound doctrine from the destructive heresies.<\/span><\/p>\n
