After publishing the article \u201cCan a Baptist marry a Catholic after they have committed adultery?<\/a>\u201d I received the following message from the same person with several questions:<\/span><\/p>\n

You said\u00a0the person I love is not mine and I should not say this, why so?<\/span> Well,\u00a0let\u2019s say I\u00a0go back to church, I repent of what I have done, I leave him, and like a Christian sister\u00a0I\u00a0get involved in the church ministry\u00a0and when I found a\u00a0Christian brother we get married, but our relationship does not work and because I still love the Catholic man we will have misunderstandings in our family\u00a0or, maybe,\u00a0I can not marry anyone at all.<\/span> What will I do then?<\/span> Let\u2019s imagine another option: I leave the Catholic man who loves me and I tell him that we can not be together\u00a0because I am Baptist and he is Catholic and I leave him and his life takes another turn to evil (for example: sexual immorality, drunkenness, theft and so on). Who will be guilty?<\/span> The answer will be that I, I think so and it\u2019s my opinion.<\/span> Or,\u00a0maybe\u00a0he agrees to come to the Baptist church, repents, is baptized, but incidentally, in time, he finds something bad in the\u00a0Baptist church that he really believes that by law it should not be that way to Christians, the question arises: will he\u00a0not completely deny\u00a0the faith and will tell me: \u201cLook what Baptist Christians do.\u201d<\/span> What will I do then?<\/span> Could you\u00a0answer these questions, please?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Let\u2019s take questions in a row \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

What will I do if I leave the Catholic and marry another man, but the relationship will not work?<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes, the relationship may not work when you marry another man because you have let your emotions and mind be\u00a0affected.<\/span> It is not accidentally that the Holy Scripture<\/span> says:<\/p>\n

\n

Watch over your heart with all diligence,\u00a0for from it flow the springs of life.<\/span><\/span> (Proverbs 4:23)(NASB)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Because you let\u00a0the feeling\u00a0of love grow and then you\u00a0got involved in sexual\u00a0relations with that man,\u00a0it\u00a0adversely affected your mind.<\/span> But you must understand one important thing.<\/span> True Christians do not live being led by emotions but by the Holy Spirit.<\/span> If you believed in Jesus Christ and received the Holy Spirit, then you must live\u00a0guided by the Holy Spirit, to follow His promptings.<\/span> Moreover, now, through what you\u2019ve done you\u00a0grieved the Holy Spirit, however, He is the One who rebukes you and keeps you in this oppressive state to make you understand that you have to get out of it\u00a0to\u00a0be saved.<\/span> The Holy Spirit is the One who\u00a0gives you so many troubles, because He wants you with jealousy for Himself.<\/span><\/p>\n

By the fact that you have entered into this relationship, you let the devil to raise up a lofty thing\u00a0in your mind and now you have to\u00a0destroy this fortresses\u00a0and it may take years.<\/span> But you must call to the\u00a0weapons of God and destroy this speculations, as\u00a0the Scripture says:<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,\u00a0for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.\u00a0We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.\u00a0(2 Corinthians 10:3-5)(NASB)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And if another man\u00a0comes to ask you to marry him and\u00a0you will not\u00a0have all the love necessary for founding a family, do not to get married.<\/span><\/p>\n

You also ask what should you do if you will have to remain single,\u00a0i.e. not get married.<\/span> It is not a tragedy and if you want to devote to serving God, being unmarried will offer certain advantages and freedom in ministry.<\/span> I think you have read in the Scriptures and have seen how Apostle Paul (who was unmarried) says\u00a0and urges those who can, to\u00a0not marry and to devote themselves to\u00a0the Gospel.<\/span><\/p>\n

And if a man\u00a0asks you to marry him and\u00a0you love him,\u00a0in your\u00a0future you will be happy only\u00a0if you live by the Holy Spirit and if you build the relationship with your future husband on the truth of the Scripture under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who will be guilty\u00a0if the Catholic man returns to\u00a0evil because I have left him?<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

I want you understand again that the problem does not lie in the fact that you are Baptist and he is Catholic, but because one is a\u00a0born again Christian (if you are so) and one is Christian in name only, that means he is not a Christian, does not have his sins forgiven and life transformed by being born again.<\/span> This is the greatest\u00a0need of that man\u00a0with whom\u00a0you are involved in adultery and you must communicate him this.<\/span> By the way, did you manage to talk with him about this? He is in a bad condition now, because he is sinful and the wages of sin is death.<\/span> He must understand that he needs the salvation that Jesus Christ offers to\u00a0get forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life.<\/span> But if he\u00a0refuses this salvation and continues to live in fornication, as he is doing\u00a0now or he will do other evil deeds, that is\u00a0his choice and he will take charge of it.<\/span><\/p>\n

What will be if the Catholic\u00a0becomes a\u00a0Baptist and then he gets disappointed?<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

I do not think he\u00a0could have and see a greater disappointment to the Baptists than the one he sees now \u2013 a Baptist, who says she is born again and lives in concubinage with him.<\/span> I repeat,\u00a0his need is not necessarily to be Baptist, but to be born again and become a child of God.<\/span> In this case, he will\u00a0receive the Holy Spirit who will dwell in him\u00a0and that will give him the most powerful and enduring testimony, which can not be denied.<\/span><\/p>\n
