Why isn\u2019t it written anything about dinosaurs in the Bible?<\/em> Wasn\u2019t God the one who\u00a0created dinosaurs too?<\/em> It is strange \u2026<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We can not say that it is not written anything in the Bible\u00a0about dinosaurs. It is true that this word is not in the Bible because it was invented later. Today there are games, coloring books, films, cartoons and encyclopedia with dinosaurs, but the word was invented only in 1842 as Wikipedia tells us: <\/a><\/p>\n

The term \u201cdinosaur\u201d was coined in 1842 by <\/em>Sir Richard Owen<\/em><\/a> and derives from <\/em>Greek<\/em><\/a> \u03b4\u03b5\u03b9\u03bd\u03cc\u03c2<\/span> (deinos) \u201cterrible, powerful, wondrous\u201d + \u03c3\u03b1\u1fe6\u03c1\u03bf\u03c2<\/span> (sauros) \u201clizard\u201d.<\/em> <\/span>Owen chose this language combination\u00a0referring to impressive proportions of these animals, and their formidable arsenal of teeth and claws.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The researchers of the Scripture believe that there are\u00a0about 30 references in the Bible to the giant animals, that were later\u00a0called\u00a0\u201ddinosaurs\u201d by scientists. Here\u2019s one of these\u00a0references:<\/p>\n

\u201cLook at the behemoth,\u00a0which I made along with you\u00a0and which feeds on grass like an ox.\u00a0What strength he has in his loins,\u00a0what power in the muscles of his belly!\u00a0His tail\u00a0sways like a cedar<\/strong>;\u00a0the sinews of his thighs are close-knit.\u00a0His bones are tubes of bronze,\u00a0his limbs like rods of iron.\u00a0He ranks first among the works of God,<\/strong> yet his Maker can approach him with his sword.<\/strong> The hills bring him their produce,\u00a0and all the wild animals play nearby<\/strong>.\u00a0Under the lotus plants he lies,\u00a0hidden among the reeds in the marsh.\u00a0The lotuses conceal him in their shadow;\u00a0the poplars by the stream surround him.\u00a0When the river rages, he is not alarmed;\u00a0he is secure, though the Jordan should surge against his mouth.\u00a0Can anyone capture him by the eyes,\u00a0\u00a0or trap him and pierce his nose? (Job 40:15\u201324)(NIV)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The word \u201cbehemoth\u201d is the Hebrew word\u00a0\u201dbehemot\u201d, but it certainly does not refer to\u00a0what we know to be\u00a0a hippopotamus.<\/p>\n

When I was teaching at the Bible Institute of Kathmandu city, I visited the zoo and saw that the hippopotamus is much smaller than other\u00a0animals that were there, such as rhinoceros<\/p>\n

\"rinocher<\/p>\n

or the elephant<\/p>\n

\"elefantul<\/p>\n

When\u00a0considering the biblical text we see that the author does not refer to\u00a0what we know as the hippopotamus, because this animal:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Does not bend his tail\u00a0like cedar, which is a very big tree<\/li>\n
  2. He is not the head of God\u2019s creatures<\/li>\n
  3. He is not the greatest of all animals<\/li>\n
  4. All other animals are not terrified when they\u00a0see him<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This picture does not match to what we know as a hippo or elephant:<\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/p>\n

    it rather describes dinosaurs<\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/p>\n

    So, the Bible speaks\u00a0about dinosaurs, even if this\u00a0word is not used.<\/p>\n
