We have no verse in the Bible that would clearly state whether Adam had or didn’t have the Holy Spirit. However, the first chapter of Genesis describes that God created mankind, namely Adam and Eve, in His image, and 2 Corinthians 3:18 states that what makes the man be in God’s image is the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n
\u00a0As all of us reflect the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, we are becoming more like him with ever-increasing glory by the Lord\u2019s Spirit.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Another important moment is found in\u00a0Genesis 6:3 when God decides that the Holy Spirit will not stay forever in the man. This reveals us that the Holy Spirit indwelt in man after their fall in sin.<\/p>\n
\u00a0So the\u00a0Lord\u00a0said, \u201cMy Spirit won\u2019t remain\u00a0with human beings forever, because they\u2019re truly mortal.\u00a0Their lifespan\u00a0will be 120 years.\u201d (Genesis 6:3)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
On the other hand, in Genesis 2, God warns Adam that the day he will eat from the tree of knowledge\u00a0of good and evil, he will certainly die. However, the day he ate from the forbiden tree, Adam didn’t die immediately.That day he died spiritually(he lost the Holy Spirit) as we find it written in Paul’s epistle to Ephesians:<\/p>\n
You used to be dead because of your offenses and sins\u00a0that you once practiced as you lived according to the ways of this present world and according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now active in those who are disobedient.\u00a0Indeed, all of us once behaved like\u00a0them in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of our flesh and senses. By nature we were destined for\u00a0wrath, just like everyone else.\u00a0But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love for us\u00a0even when we were dead because of our offenses, made us alive together with\u00a0the Messiah\u00a0(by grace you have been saved),\u00a0raised us up with him, and seated us with him in the heavenly realm in the Messiah\u00a0Jesus. (Ephesians 2:1-6)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Besides, Genesis 5 specifies that Adam and Eve have been created in the image and likeness of God, but after his fall, Adam gave birth to a son in his image and likeness, not in the image of God. It happened because Adam lost the image he was created in the moment he fell in sin, image we can regain by being born again.<\/p>\n
This is the historical record\u00a0of Adam\u2019s\u00a0generations.\u00a0When\u00a0God created mankind,\u00a0he made them in his own likeness.\u00a0Creating them male and female,\u00a0he blessed them and called them humans\u00a0when\u00a0he created them.\u00a0After Adam had lived 130 years, he fathered a son just like him,\u00a0that is,\u00a0according to his own likeness, and named him Seth.
