The text in Gospel of Mathew 5:5 relates to one of the ”blessings”, namely: ”Blessed are\u00a0the\u00a0gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.” Jehovah’s witnesses say that the Paradise will be on this Earth on which actually the sin reigns. As evangelicals, we know that the earth will be destroyed. What does this ”blessing” refer to? Thank you and may God bless you!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\"The<\/h3>\n

The blessings are for the Church<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The blessings are a part from the well-known ”Sermon on the Mount” which Jesus preached at the beginning of His mission when He went through every city and called people to repent, \u201cRepent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand\u201d (Matthew 4:17). In this context, chapter 5 says that the Lord Jesus, when He saw the crowds who were from the people of God and were in the covenant with God, and who had to be the ”kingdom of priests\u00a0and\u00a0a holy nation” (Exodus 19:6), i.e. ”the salt of earth and the light of the world”, He spoke to them about how they can enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:20). In other words, the Lord Jesus showed them who can enter the Kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:3-19) and what\u00a0should\u00a0be the\u00a0behavior of those\u00a0who enters in the Kingdom of heaven (5:21-7:27). Actually, in the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord Jesus presents the attitudes which a man should have being a born again person and how a born again person has to live.<\/p>\n

The earth will be\u00a0destroyed after the Kingdom of a thousand years<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It is true that the\u00a0current earth and heaven will perish, as it is written in Holy Scriptures:<\/p>\n

\n

Then I saw\u00a0a new heaven and a new earth; for\u00a0the first heaven and the first earth passed away<\/strong>, and there is no longer\u00a0any\u00a0sea (Revelation 21:1).
\nBut\u00a0the day of the Lord\u00a0will come like a thief, in which\u00a0<\/strong>the heavens\u00a0will pass away with a roar and the\u00a0elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and\u00a0the earth and\u00a0its works will be\u00a0<\/strong>burned up\u00a0<\/strong>(2 Peter 3:10).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This will happen after the Kingdom of a thousand years, a Kingdom which will be on earth.<\/p>\n

The Kingdom of a thousand years will be established after the second coming of the Lord Jesus<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Kingdom of a thousand years will be established after the second coming of the Lord Jesus, but the Jehovah’s\u00a0witnesses teach that the Lord Jesus has already come to earth invisibly in 1914 and\u00a0respectively we live in the kingdom of a thousand years. Besides, their teaching is very\u00a0controversial and it is always changing, and it seems that it is also very different on\u00a0this subject.<\/p>\n

The Church will reign on earth a thousand years<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It is written about the Church that we will reign together with Jesus Christ on earth:<\/p>\n

When He had taken the\u00a0book, the\u00a0four living creatures and the\u00a0twenty-four elders\u00a0fell down before the\u00a0Lamb, each one holding a\u00a0harp and\u00a0golden bowls full of incense, which are the\u00a0prayers of the\u00a0saints.\u00a0And they sang a\u00a0new song, saying,\u00a0\u201cWorthy are You to take the\u00a0book and to break its seals; for You were\u00a0slain, and\u00a0purchased for God with Your blood\u00a0men\u00a0from\u00a0every tribe and tongue and people and nation.\u00a0\u201cYou have made them\u00a0to be\u00a0a\u00a0kingdom and\u00a0priests to our God; and they will\u00a0reign upon the earth.”\u00a0<\/strong>(Revelation 5:8-10)<\/p>\n

Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the\u00a0second death has no power, but they will be\u00a0priests of God and of Christ and will\u00a0reign with Him for a thousand years. (Revelation 20:6)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Kingdom of God begins on earth<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Kingdom of God begins on this earth with the Kingdom of a thousand years and will continue for\u00a0eternity on the new earth, where the Church (the New Jerusalem) will continue to reign forever:<\/p>\n

There will no longer be any curse; and\u00a0the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will\u00a0serve Him;\u00a0they will\u00a0see His face, and His\u00a0name\u00a0will be\u00a0on their\u00a0foreheads. And\u00a0there will no longer be\u00a0any\u00a0night; and they\u00a0will not have need\u00a0of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will\u00a0reign forever and ever.\u00a0<\/strong>And\u00a0he said to me, \u201cThese words are faithful and true\u201d; and the Lord, the\u00a0God of the spirits of the prophets,\u00a0sent His angel to show to His bond-servants the things which must soon take place. (Revelation 22:3-6)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Therefore, the Church or the blessed will inherit this earth reigning on it a thousand years, but then will reign forever on the new earth. May the Lord help us to receive\u00a0tenderly all the things as given by His hands (because that means to be gentle),\u00a0before His coming to inherit this earth and the new earth!<\/p>\n
