Here\u2019s\u00a0a question that I have\u00a0received:<\/span> <\/p>\n Isn\u2019t Santa Claus an\u00a0idol, and\u00a0spreading the idea of his existence \u2013 idolatry?<\/em><\/span>\u00a0It is\u00a0allowed\u00a0for\u00a0Christians to accept Santa, even if he is\u00a0fictional?<\/em><\/span>\u00a0What attitude should Christians have?<\/em><\/span>\u00a0What\u00a0shall a mother and a father tell to their children?<\/em><\/span> What does the Bible say about this (Santa Claus)?<\/em><\/span>\u00a0When some teenagers were asked:\u00a0what is the first thing you think at when you say \u201cChristmas\u201d,\u00a0they answered: Santa Claus, the Christmas tree, gifts \u2026 no word of Jesus and His birth.<\/em><\/span>\u00a0What to do?<\/em><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Last year I wrote an article about the origins of the word \u201cChristmas\u201d.<\/span>\u00a0T<\/span>here are many versions of the origin of this word, and regretfully, less\u00a0of them are\u00a0associated with the events\u00a0from the Gospel.<\/span> For most Christians\u00a0from our country and around the world, regardless of denomination or church, Christmas is associated with the Birth\u00a0of our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span>\u00a0And Santa Claus is a character as any other one\u00a0from\u00a0a\u00a0fairy tale\u00a0whom children\u00a0expect to come and bring them gifts.<\/span> Nobody associates\u00a0the character of Santa Claus with an idol to worship.<\/span> <\/p>\n In a greeting card that I received from my daughter, who is now 17 years old, among the things for which she expressed her gratitude and appreciation, was that we were able to grow her in a world\u00a0of a fairy tale and she was waiting for Santa Claus when she was in 6th grade.\u00a0<\/span>Her colleagues at school said that there was no Santa Claus, but parents bought the\u00a0gifts and put them under the the pillow or under the Christmas\u00a0tree.<\/span> But she said: \u201cIt is not true.<\/span>\u00a0You are not good kids, so Santa Claus is not coming to you.\u201d At the same time, all these years we were studying the Holy Scriptures\u00a0every day\u00a0with our children and now we,\u00a0as parents, are so happy to see their spiritual maturity and discernment they\u00a0show when\u00a0they must stay strong for the cause of the Gospel.<\/span> <\/p>\n Christians should\u00a0take\u00a0the best advantage of the Christmas event and offer themselves to play the role of Santa Claus to tell to all children the true history of Christmas, as we find it in the Gospel and to help children that, through the gifts that they will receive, to realize the value of the greatest gift that Jesus Christ came to bring us \u2013 the gift of eternal life.<\/span> <\/p>\n Translated by Felicia Djugostran<\/em><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Here\u2019s\u00a0a question that I have\u00a0received: Isn\u2019t Santa Claus an\u00a0idol, and\u00a0spreading the idea of his existence \u2013 idolatry?\u00a0It is\u00a0allowed\u00a0for\u00a0Christians to accept Santa, even if he is\u00a0fictional?\u00a0What attitude should Christians have?\u00a0What\u00a0shall a mother and a father tell to their children?
