It is written in the\u00a0Bible: \u2018Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king<\/span>\u201d <\/span>(1 Peter 2:17).\u00a0To honor someone means\u00a0to bring honor to that person and\u00a0even show preference to him.<\/span> <\/em>What kind of honor\u00a0can I give to a\u00a0yogi, for example, or to\u00a0a homosexual?<\/em><\/span> How can I understand it?<\/em><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

To understand the words of the Apostle Peter here \u2026<\/span> <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s look at the context<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

The passage in which this verse is placed is the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation.\u00a0Submit yourselves for the Lord\u2019s sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority,\u00a0or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right.\u00a0For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.\u00a0Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.\u00a0Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.\u00a0Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable. According to this text, to honor all people means:<\/span> <\/p>\n

    \n
  • \nTo behave well with everyone.<\/span> <\/li>\n
  • \nWhen he says the Gentiles, Peter\u00a0relates to unbelievers, it is a biblical term that it is used in the Bible to non-Christians.<\/span> <\/li>\n
  • \nWhen they slander us as evildoers we shall\u00a0not\u00a0respond in the same way, but whenever we have the\u00a0opportunity we shall do good deeds to them.<\/span> <\/li>\n
  • \nTo submit ourselves\u00a0to authorities and give them the due honor, both to the king and to governors.<\/span> <\/li>\n
  • \nWhen ignorant and foolish\u00a0people are talking bad and invent nonsense\u00a0about Christians, do not respond in the same way, but doing right\u00a0you\u00a0silence them by the\u00a0good\u00a0you do for them personally and for society in general.<\/span> <\/li>\n
  • \nAs citizens, we behave as free men, taking advantage of civil rights, but do not use it as a covering for evil\u00a0as to throw contempt upon others.<\/span> <\/li>\n
  • \nAnother extremely important thing is to proclaim the wonderful powers of Him who called us from darkness to light, that is to proclaim the Gospel message to people so that they can be saved.<\/span> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    How to honor yogis and homosexuals?<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

    I think the best answer to this question in the Epistle of Paul to Titus when he told him how to teach the Christians of Crete:<\/span> <\/p>\n

    \n

    Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed,\u00a0to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, <\/span><\/span>showing every consideration for all men.\u00a0For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.\u00a0But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,\u00a0He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,\u00a0whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,\u00a0so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.\u00a0This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(Titus 3:1-8)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    So, we shall look with kindness to all people who live in sin, because\u00a0we are those who have experienced their\u00a0condition, but now we have received forgiveness and mercy from God.<\/span> We shall do good to these people\u00a0and to continually proclaim the Gospel message so that they can be saved. <\/span>May God help us so.<\/span> <\/p>\n
