I\u2019m a 12th grade student\u00a0and I prepare to go to college in autumn.<\/em><\/span> Now I am actively involved in the church ministry\u00a0in our area, but when I go to town, I\u00a0should get involved in another church.<\/em><\/span>\u00a0How is it right\u00a0to choose\u00a0what local\u00a0church to attend?<\/em><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s good that you already start thinking how to\u00a0involve\u00a0in the church once you change your place of residence, even if you live there only for a time.<\/span> Here are some important principles in this regard.<\/span> <\/p>\n

Choose a church where the sound doctrine is preached<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

The local church is where Christians go to receive spiritual food from God\u2019s Word.<\/span> Choose a local church where they set great store on profound\u00a0study of the Holy\u00a0Scriptures and where the\u00a0sound doctrine of the Bible is preached and not opinions or teachings of men.<\/span> When he was in jail and was waiting for the\u00a0\u201dthe time\u00a0of his departure\u201d, because\u00a0he was to be executed, the Apostle Paul wrote to his beloved disciple Timothy thus:<\/span> <\/p>\n

\n

I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:\u00a0preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.\u00a0For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine<\/strong>; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,\u00a0and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.\u00a0But you, be sober in all things<\/strong>, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.\u00a0<\/span>(2 Timothy 4:1-5)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In the passage quoted above, on the one hand, the Apostle Paul says what\u00a0the trends of\u00a0some Church ministers\u00a0will be in the last days, but he also tells us that people will encourage such attitudes, that\u00a0means they will seek to hear pleasant things that tickle the ears and not the profound truth of God\u2019s Word that changes lives.<\/span> Be sober in this\u00a0and choose to go where the\u00a0Word of God is preached and persevere on\u00a0studying and\u00a0fulfilling it.<\/span> <\/p>\n

Choose\u00a0a church where you will serve according to your abilities and spiritual gifts<\/strong><\/span> <\/p>\n

Someone told me once that he came to a new church and\u00a0told the\u00a0pastor\u00a0what he could\u00a0make in the the Gospel, how he had served\u00a0the church where he had come from\u00a0and asked how he could\u00a0be useful in the ministry of the church he wanted to join.<\/span>\u00a0And the pastor told him to stay in church, about a year or two, and then he could\u00a0see where and how to engage better.<\/span> <\/p>\n

Once you come into the\u00a0town, it will be good to visit churches, to see where it would be a greater need for your involvement, and then it is very important to go to the pastor of the church where you wish to establish and\u00a0tell him what you can do, what you have done before in the church where you came from and tell him how you want to get involved further. <\/span>If somehow the\u00a0pastor will tell you too that it takes time to see what you can do,\u00a0suggest him to contact the pastor\/priest of the church\u00a0you came from\u00a0to get a recommendation from him.<\/span>\u00a0Lord Jesus teaches us to redeem the time and, given that \u201ccrops are white but the workers are few\u201d, we can not lose years for waiting.<\/span>\u00a0We must work to our greatest potential\u00a0in the\u00a0Gospel, because the Savior:<\/span> <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2026 gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,\u00a0for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;\u00a0until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.\u00a0As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;\u00a0but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ,\u00a0from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part<\/strong>, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.\u00a0(Ephesians 4:11-16)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Comfortableness should not be a\u00a0priority<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

When you choose the church you want to join, do not think from the perspective of a consumer who wants to have a warm, comfortable place, where all will serve him and no one\u00a0will\u00a0demand anything from him.<\/span> Choose to go there where your service is needed.<\/span> Attend\u00a0the\u00a0small churches, too, those that\u00a0are in the process of planting, that are making mission\u00a0and that badly need your involvement.<\/span> <\/p>\n

Put together all these principles and make a wise choice on the local church you want to get involved.<\/span>\u00a0Start inquiring\u00a0now for\u00a0the churches from the city where you want to go to college.<\/span> <\/p>\n
