The focus of these words of Lord Jesus is that we must be people of integrity and do according to what we say or promise.If you say \u201cyes\u201d and do what is \u201cno\u201d, or say \u201cno\u201d and do what is \u201cyes\u201d \u2013 these things come from the evil one.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the vow is\u00a0usually required from a man who does not keep his promises and does\u00a0not honor his words.When your integrity is known, you\u00a0will be required oath only by those who do not know you yet.<\/p>\n

God also swore<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Because at one time Abraham questioned the promise of God, the Most High has sworn:<\/p>\n

For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself,\u00a0<\/strong>saying, \u201cI WILL SURELY BLESS YOU AND I WILL SURELY MULTIPLY YOU.\u201d\u00a0(Hebrews 6:13-14)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God swore\u00a0not because He had ever\u00a0told lies and had not\u00a0fulfilled His Word, but because of Abraham\u2019s doubts.<\/p>\n

Here is the biblical definition of an oath:<\/p>\n

But even the\u00a0oath will not change anything in those people who lack integrity.<\/p>\n

Some have sworn\u00a0to lie <\/strong><\/h2>\n

When Jesus was arrested, only Peter had the courage to go after the crowd that caught the Savior and the Bible says that\u2026<\/p>\n

Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a servant-girl came to him and said, \u201cYou too were with Jesus the Galilean.\u201d\u00a0But he denied it before them all, saying, \u201cI do not know what you are talking about.\u201d\u00a0When he had gone out to the gateway, another servant-girl saw him and said to those who were there, \u201cThis man was with Jesus of Nazareth.\u201d\u00a0And again he denied it with an oath, \u201cI do not know the man<\/strong>.<\/span>\u00a0(Matthew 26:69-72)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
