When speaking of the qualities of character that qualify one to be a minister\u00a0in the Church of God,\u00a0in the Scripture it is written that he\u00a0must be the \u201chusband of one wife\u201d.<\/span> How it is today, so in biblical times among\u00a0some nations\u00a0who received the\u00a0message of the Gospel, polygamy<\/a>\u00a0was widespread,\u00a0it was acceptable for a man to have several wives.<\/span> If such a man became a Christian in the church, he could not become a leader because he was in a situation that he\u00a0could not be a\u00a0model to others.<\/span><\/p>\n

When it says that the servant must be the\u00a0\u201dhusband of one wife\u201d it\u00a0refers mainly to the attitude and the character of someone who qualifies to be a servant and leader in church and it means that he\u00a0should be faithful to his wife and his mind and passions have to be\u00a0directed only to his wife without being\u00a0lured or attracted\u00a0by other women.<\/span><\/p>\n

In fact, in Scripture there are many ministers who did not have wives and families when they were\u00a0mentioned and the Apostle Paul himself was not married.<\/span><\/p>\n
