I received an invitation from someone to go to a Christian meeting called Encounter, where I was promised that within a few days I will have a spiritual growth and an approach to God that\u00a0one can not accomplish\u00a0going to church for years.<\/em><\/span> What shall I know\u00a0about this practice and how to proceed with the invitation that I received?<\/em><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nWhat is Encounter?<\/span> <\/h4>\n

<\/font>and is a movement about which I\u00a0have recently heard that it was born in Brazil and the organizers invite participants to an alleged special meeting with God.<\/span> <\/p>\n

\nThe testimony of a participant<\/span> <\/h4>\n

I first heard about this experience from a man who was at\u00a0this weekend and told me very happily, that he saw something special that he had not seen before and called that the living\u00a0Gospel.<\/span>\u00a0He understood there that he was not born again but also\u00a0said that at that meeting he had been faced with a long list of sins of his relatives, ancestors, etc.<\/span> and he had to repent for each of those sins, saying that if there were\u00a0an unconfessed\u00a0sin\u00a0one would not be released from\u00a0it.<\/span>\u00a0He also told me\u00a0that five topics were addressed at those meetings:<\/span> <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \nSalvation<\/span> <\/li>\n
  2. \nRelease<\/span> from dependence<\/li>\n
  3. \nBaptism with the Holy Spirit and the filling with the Holy Spirit<\/a><\/span> <\/li>\n
  4. \nHealing of physical disease<\/span> <\/li>\n
  5. \nVision<\/span> <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \nThere can not be all at a time<\/span> <\/h4>\n

    As with you, those invited to these meetings are allowed to receive all at a\u00a0time, that\u00a0means to receive a full spiritual growth only during the weekend.<\/span>\u00a0It is not possible and spiritual growth involves time and discipline in a systematic study of the Holy Scripture, in prayer and in preaching the Gospel.<\/span> <\/p>\n

    \nEscape from responsibility<\/span> <\/h4>\n

    That Christian who told me that he attended such a meeting, also told me an aspect that seemed\u00a0to me\u00a0not good.<\/span> He says that at the Encounter Weekends people come to confess sins which they can not confess to their pastors, but there, they say to a minister who does not deal directly to their spiritual growth and does not shepherd them.<\/span> Even more, he said that\u00a0some pastors were also coming to\u00a0confess their\u00a0sins to foreign persons, so that they might not be dismissed from their ministries in\u00a0churches.<\/span> In my opinion, these people flee from responsibility and what they do not can\u00a0not be qualified as repentance or sincere confession.<\/span> <\/p>\n
