I recently started reading the Bible from the beginning.<\/em><\/span>\u00a0I\u00a0had read\u00a0Genesis, the Gospel of John, Luke, Matthew and Mark before and I had also read Revelation of John.<\/em><\/span> Now I read the first four books of Moses from the Old Testament and started to lose myself\u00a0among so many lists of tribes.<\/em><\/span> I suspect that at some point in the reading, due to increasing\u00a0sins of the people of Israel and of other nations, God will promise to send the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, to sacrifice Himself on the cross to wash the sins of mankind.<\/em><\/span>\u00a0I do not want to anticipate, but at what point in the Bible \/ Old Testament happens this?<\/em><\/span>\u00a0I will try to read the whole Bible, but I want to ask you what\u00a0particular books of the Bible do you consider\u00a0that\u00a0are\u00a0essential to be read for a better understanding of\u00a0God\u2019s message?<\/em><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nWhat books of the Bible one must necessarily read?<\/span> <\/h4>\n

It\u2019s good that you have read those books of the New Testament\u00a0before and now you started to read the Bible in its entirety.<\/span> The 66 books of the Old and New Testaments contain the whole message of God and it is very important for everyone to read the entire Bible, without which\u00a0one could not eventually understand some important passages, truths or doctrines of the Bible that are explained by themselves\u00a0by the fact that a passage\u00a0throws more light on the other one and brings\u00a0more details.<\/span>\u00a0As regarding to the lists of the tribes, this\u00a0should not scare you. <\/span>On a simple reading they seem\u00a0boring, but when you start to study the Bible carefully and in details you will find them very important.<\/span> So, I advise you to patiently read the Bible from beginning to end to gain a good overview and a deep foundation for further study.<\/span> Even more, it is good\u00a0besides the detailed study of a book or a topic from\u00a0the Bible, to be always in a continuous reading of the Bible from beginning to end.<\/span> For thorough study\u00a0I recommend you to use the\u00a0inductive Bible study materials that are exceptionally well designed and help everyone to understand\u00a0the meaning of the message of the Scripture.<\/span> <\/p>\n

\nWhere in the Old Testament appear\u00a0the first prophecies about the Lord\u00a0Jesus Christ?<\/span> <\/h4>\n

Some Bible scholars consider that the Old Testament contains over 300 prophecies which refer to the first and second coming of Jesus Christ. Some of those prophecies<\/a> you\u2019ve already read in the first four books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers. <\/span>The first one is\u00a0found in Genesis chapter 3 that\u00a0describes the fall of man into sin.<\/span> When\u00a0He spoke to the serpent God said:<\/span> <\/p>\n

\n

And I will put enmity\u00a0between you and the woman,\u00a0and between your seed and her seed<\/strong>;\u00a0He shall bruise you on the head,\u00a0and you shall bruise him on the heel. <\/span><\/span>(Genesis 3:15)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This seed of the woman is the Lord Jesus who bruised\u00a0on the old serpent\u2019s head, that of Satan and the devil bruised Him on the\u00a0heel when His heels were nailed\u00a0at the crucifixion.<\/span> <\/p>\n

The following prophecy about Jesus is the promise given by God to Abram:<\/span> <\/p>\n

\n

And I will bless those who bless you,\u00a0and the one who curses you I will curse\u00a0and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed<\/span><\/span> (Genesis 12:3)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Through the Lord Jesus, who\u00a0was born of Abraham all the families of the earth were\u00a0blessed and other texts of the Scripture specify more details on this prophecy.<\/span> <\/p>\n

When Jacob blessed his sons, he told Judah:<\/span> <\/p>\n

\n

The scepter shall not depart from Judah,\u00a0nor the ruler\u2019s staff from between his feet,\u00a0until Shiloh<\/strong> comes,\u00a0and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.\u00a0(Genesis 49:10)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Shiloh means here \u201cthe one who makes peace, or brings peace\u201d.<\/span> This is a direct prophecy\u00a0about the person of the Lord Jesus who was born of the tribe of Judah, and\u00a0is called in the Bible the Prince of Peace\u00a0because He took upon Himself the punishment for the sins of mankind and brought peace between people and God. <\/span>People of all nations listen to Him, but there comes a time when every knee will bow before Him and every tongue will confess to the glory of God the Father that Jesus Christ is the Lord.<\/span> <\/p>\n
