Why is there\u00a0such a great difference\u00a0between the ages of the first people, for example, it is said that\u00a0Adam lived 900 years and the following generations, like Isaac, who lived only 180 and not to mention the people of nowadays, that very few get to or more than 100 years?<\/em><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The story about the second day of Creation says:<\/span> <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Then God said, \u201cLet there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.\u201d\u00a0God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so.\u00a0God called the expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.\u00a0(Genesis 1:6-8)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So, according to this narrative,\u00a0there was an expanse of\u00a0water above heaven, something like the very thin layer of ozone that protects us from space radiation now.<\/span> <\/p>\n

In the story about the Flood waters are called \u201cfloodgates of the sky\u201d and they together with the\u00a0deep waters flooded the whole\u00a0earth:<\/span> <\/p>\n

In the six hundredth year of Noah\u2019s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky<\/strong> were opened.\u00a0The rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.\u00a0(Genesis 7:11-12)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

By the way, here it is also first mentioned the fall of rain\u00a0on earth.<\/span> You will ask then how plants were\u00a0watered\u00a0up to that time?<\/span>\u00a0Here is the answer:<\/span> <\/p>\n

That is why, because until then there had not been such a phenomenon, sinful people of Noah\u2019s time did not believe that God could not punish them that\u00a0way, they did\u00a0not believe that there might be rain.<\/span> When talking about how it will be at His coming, Lord Jesus said:<\/span> <\/p>\n

And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:\u00a0they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.\u00a0(The Gospel of Luke 17:26-27)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Be careful, dear reader, do not ignore the reality of the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, repent and live holy in the midst of this \u201cperverse nation,\u201d as the Savior said.<\/span> <\/p>\n

So, during the Flood, the\u00a0layer of water that was above the heaven, or atmosphere, fell onto earth and\u00a0only that\u00a0thin\u00a0ozone layer remained on earth to protect us from radiation, which obviously doesn\u2019t do it as well as\u00a0it was before the flood.<\/span> This is one of the reasons why people do not live so long lives.<\/span> <\/p>\n

God, however, decided to shorten the days of human life even before the Flood and the wickedness of men because, as we find reported:<\/span> <\/p>\n

Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them,\u00a0that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose.\u00a0Then the LORD said, \u201cMy Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(Genesis 6:1-3)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I know someone who though he is a servant of the church\u00a0is concerned more about\u00a0living a longer life on earth than about\u00a0preaching\u00a0the eternal life that is in Christ Jesus. <\/span>He has as a purpose to\u00a0get\u00a0over the age of 100 years and makes\u00a0great efforts for it. I do\u00a0not know if this is really\u00a0useful.<\/span> If someone succeeds in great efforts to overcome the age of 100 years, how is it compared to eternity \u2013 a steam, showing a little and then disappears\u2026 God help us all to believe in Jesus to inherit\u00a0eternal life and to\u00a0strive for the\u00a0things from above.<\/span> <\/p>\n
