I have a question about the sin of having an abortion.<\/em><\/span> What do you think should be the condition of\u00a0the couple that has committed such a sin, except\u00a0repentance \u2013 pure and sincere prayer before God that is, indeed, the most important?<\/em><\/span> What effect may this sin have\u00a0on those involved, but also on their offspring?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In an article published on the Internet, Larisa Sagov writes:<\/span><\/p>\n

Statistics shows that 78% of women in Moldova have 2 or more abortions.<\/em><\/span> Six years ago, 83% of all\u00a0pregnancies\u00a0were interrupted.<\/em><\/span> Currently the number of abortions in our country is almost equal to the number of births.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Abortion is a cruel deliberate murder <\/a>to entail serious consequences on this earth and eternal punishment in eternity. <\/span>The blame for\u00a0having an abortion is of the women who resorted to it, but it is equally shared with\u00a0their husbands or men that have sent or allowed them to\u00a0get abortion, doctors who have advised or agreed to do abortion, parents, friends, colleagues and anyone who has given consent to commit this crime. <\/span>Are you guilty of committing this sin?<\/span> Are you terrified? <\/span>I have a good news for you.<\/span>\u00a0If you come with sincere repentance, God is ready to forgive you, make you clean and deliver you from the guilt of\u00a0the committed sin.<\/span> If you want these, read further to know what to do.<\/span><\/p>\n

Realize what true repentance is and repent<\/span> <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Before addressing the main part of the question, I found important to clarify what is and what is not repentance.<\/span>\u00a0Unfortunately, among some Christians is widespread the belief that repentance is when you go to the priest and shrive.<\/span>\u00a0The confession of the sin, is only a part of repentance, just as pure and sincere prayer is another part.<\/span>\u00a0Repentance involves more than the confession of sin and prayer. <\/span>The Greek word metanoia<\/em><\/strong> translated repentance<\/em><\/strong> in English\u00a0has the meaning of\u00a0a radical transformation of one\u2019s thinking.<\/span> So, the person who repents, will admit\u00a0before God the seriousness of\u00a0the committed sin, will repent of it, will\u00a0confess it, and will ask forgiveness from God and He will not commit it anymore. <\/span>After He has\u00a0forgiven\u00a0the woman caught in adultery sin, Lord Jesus said:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Go and\u00a0from now on sin no more. (<\/span><\/span>John 8:11)(NASB)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The way I was asked\u00a0the question makes me realize that the couple who have asked it\u00a0deeply understand\u00a0the seriousness of\u00a0the committed sin, want to have full forgiveness and cleansing and prayed from the heart, asking God for this forgiveness and cleansing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Receive God\u2019s forgiveness<\/span> <\/strong><\/h2>\n

I saw sinners trying to impress God with their humility and do not ask for forgiveness under the pretext that they are too sinful.<\/span> Still others believe they can not even be forgiven, although they pray daily and ask for forgiveness. <\/span>Both cases demonstrate a lack of faith, without which no one can be forgiven and saved.<\/span> We must believe God\u2019s words who said:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

But if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.<\/strong>\u00a0If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.\u00a0If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. <\/strong>(1 John 1:7-9)(NASB)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

If you have asked forgiveness from God wholeheartedly for the committed sin, also wholeheartedly believe that He has forgiven you, as written in His Word.<\/span><\/p>\n

Accept the consequences of abortion<\/span> <\/strong><\/h2>\n

God forgives our sins and delivers us from the eternal punishment that we deserve for committing them.<\/span> But\u00a0the committed sins will leave consequences in our lives. <\/span>Here are some of the consequences of the sin of abortion, which you can expect or that you already experience now in your marriage:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • A 1994 study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found: \u201cAmong women who had been pregnant at least once, the risk of breast cancer in those who had experienced an induced abortion was 50% higher than among other women.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Women who undergo one or more induced abortions carry a significantly increased risk of delivering prematurely in the future. Premature delivery is associated with higher rates of cerebral palsy, as well as other complications of prematurity.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Another consequence is that many women who have abortions can not conceive and carry the pregnancy\u00a0in the future because of the serious diseases of the genital tract.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 30% -50% of women who have\u00a0had abortion experience various sexual dysfunctions including acute loss of pleasure or pain during intercourse, aversion to sex or even to the opposite sex.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    There are many other consequences that are not listed in this article.<\/span> Whether or not you will be affected as a couple of any one of them, it is important to know that God has\u00a0forgiven your sin and saved you from\u00a0eternal punishment you deserve. <\/span>From now on, live well in the light of God.<\/span> Go and tell others about the seriousness of\u00a0committing the sin of abortion, but also\u00a0about the forgiveness you have received from God through Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n
