According to the\u00a0teaching\u00a0of a heresy I have heard, the new birth\u00a0of a\u00a0Christian doesn\u2019t\u00a0take place on this earth.<\/span> They say that we are only conceived here, but we will be born again only in the kingdom of heaven. <\/span>Let\u2019s see what Scripture says in this regard.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new birth is the condition to enter into the Kingdom of heaven<\/span><\/h4>\n

Here\u2019s a case\u00a0from the Bible which reveals the truth:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;\u00a0this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, \u201cRabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.\u201d\u00a0Jesus answered and said to him, \u201cTruly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God<\/strong>.\u201d\u00a0Nicodemus said to Him, \u201cHow can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother\u2019s womb and be born, can he?\u201d\u00a0Jesus answered, \u201cTruly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.<\/strong> (John 3:1-5)(NASB)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

If the new birth is a condition to enter\u00a0into the Kingdom of heaven, it must take place<\/a> before, that is now, when we still\u00a0live on this earth.<\/span> And beware, the Bible does not say that our spiritual conceiving is a condition to enter into the kingdom of heaven, but our new birth.<\/span><\/p>\n

The verb tense<\/span><\/h4>\n

Another important and strong argument is that often, when it speaks about the new birth, the tense of the verb is the past.<\/span> Let me show you below\u00a0the following verses from the I Epistle of John\u00a0that\u00a0refers to the new birth:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born<\/strong> of God. (1 John 3:9)(NASB)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born<\/strong> of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7)(NASB)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born<\/strong> of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born<\/strong> of Him.\u00a0By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments.\u00a0For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.\u00a0For whatever is born<\/strong> of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world\u2013our faith. (1 John 5:1-4)(NASB)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

We know that no one who is born<\/strong> of God sins; but He who was born<\/strong> of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.\u00a0We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. (1 John 5:18-19)(NASB)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In all the biblical passages quoted above the\u00a0past tense is used for the verb.<\/span><\/p>\n

The verb tense in Greek<\/span><\/h4>\n

After a discussion with the\u00a0followers of this heretical teaching and after they\u00a0had no answer to give to\u00a0the arguments presented above, I received a message, where they tried to draw my attention to the Greek form of the verb translated \u201cborn\u201d into English in the passages from above.<\/span> I was surprised that they made reference to Greek, since\u00a0during our previous discussion they could not find in the Bible the texts to which they were making reference.<\/span> Anyway, let us see the form of the verb\u00a0in Greek.<\/span><\/p>\n

Almost in all verses mentioned in 1 John in the Greek New Testament is used the word gege,nnhta..<\/span><\/strong>. <\/strong><\/span><\/span>Grammatical form of the verb is indicative, perfect passive, singular, the\u00a0third person, indicating a completed action in the past.<\/span> So, the new birth\u00a0took place in the past of the\u00a0Christians\u00a0to which reference is made.<\/span><\/p>\n

Study the Scriptures and beware of any doctrine that is\u00a0strange and hostile to God\u2019s Word.<\/span> Seek to be born again<\/a>, if you have not done it before.<\/span><\/p>\n
