\nEtymology<\/span> <\/h4>\n

Online Etymology Dictionary<\/a> reports us that the word comes from the Greek words \u201cta biblia to Hagia\u201d which in translation means the holy books, from\u00a0the term \u201cbiblion\u201d which translated from Greek means paper or scroll and it was the ordinary word\u00a0for any book.<\/span> The origin of the word is from the name of the Phoenician port Byblos\u00a0from which Egyptian papyrus was exported\u00a0to Greece.<\/span>\u00a0Holy Scriptures was refered to in Greek as \u201cta Biblia\u201d as early as c.223, but Biblical scholar Mark Hamilton <\/a>states that this\u00a0phrase\u00a0was an expression Hellenistic Jews used to describe their sacred books.\u00a0<\/span> <\/p>\n
