1.\u00a0<\/span>Take a firm decision<\/h2>\n

My main motivation to learn English was a willingness to use very good materials for studying the Bible that\u00a0are in English and German, but mostly in English.Thus,\u00a0being students together with my wife we could not afford to go to classes and\u00a0pay, but I looked for\u00a0a Russian autodidact\u00a0textbook\u00a0whose author was Petrova, and I began to study by myself.\u00a0Almost everyone\u00a0who saw me said that I would not succeed, that they\u00a0had gone\u00a0to classes and\u00a0they had not\u00a0succeeded, and I wanted to learn without a teacher\u2026 I heard what they say but I insisted to study the textbook\u00a0to the end.This was a very good start, even if\u00a0it was\u00a0very hard to me.<\/p>\n

2. <\/span>Do not be\u00a0defeated by shame (or pride)<\/h2>\n

Learning a language is not an easy thing and assume that you will do many mistakes in the speech and\u00a0some will laugh at them.But, it is\u00a0known that those who do not\u00a0know what it means to learn a foreign language are those who laugh.Those who have made this effort will only appreciate you.Moreover, in any other field of activity only\u00a0since you start to learn, you do it\u00a0awkwardly and funny.\u00a0Some people, when learning a foreign language, think\u00a0too much at their\u00a0own person, so that\u00a0they are afraid not to make mistakes, so they don\u2019t speak.\u00a0Thus they will not be able to learn any language. And I do not know\u00a0whether that is\u00a0pride or shame.\u00a0If you want to learn the language, you should insist to talk.<\/p>\n

While\u00a0I was\u00a0learning according to the\u00a0textbook of\u00a0Petrova, the first time I saw someone speaking English, I approached them wanting to apply the gained knowledge.\u00a0I do not remember what I said, but I remember someone who was\u00a0behind me started to laugh\u00a0and he couldn\u2019t stop. I paid no attention to him.I was\u00a0neither intimidated nor embarrassed, especially since the English speaker\u00a0was very nice and he\u00a0wanted to listen to me, to understand and discuss with me.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0<\/span>Use the opportunities<\/h2>\n

Later, I met with Dorel Ie\u015feanu, which was a student in high school, but knew English better. I\u00a0taught him\u00a0from God\u2019s Word, and Dorel\u00a0taught me\u00a0English\u00a0and he was very serious\u00a0about that,\u00a0so I could make a great progress in knowledge of the language.<\/p>\n

At that time,\u00a0I\u00a0have already studied all the courses of the inductive Bible study series \u201cPrecept upon Precept\u201d by Kay Arthur, translated into Romanian by Mia and Costel Oglice.\u00a0When I visited the translators who are my teachers and my mentors,\u00a0they offered me\u00a0English books, which had not yet been translated.\u00a0So, I started studying the Bible in English and I started with Revelation, part III.It was very difficult\u00a0in the beginning, and sometimes I had to spend\u00a0hours to study a page, to translate all the words and to understand the meaning, but I insisted and I completed the whole bookl, then\u00a0Revelation part IV, then Daniel and so on.Studying the\u00a0Bible in English helped me enormously\u00a0to learn this language.<\/p>\n

4. Help others<\/h2>\n

Because I saw how much has helped and helps me the\u00a0knowledge of English, when God has given me the opportunity I wanted to help others.\u00a0Visiting a youth camp, I met with seven Christian girls who knew very well English\u00a0and two of them were teaching it\u00a0at the university.\u00a0I called them together and I\u00a0challenged them\u00a0to work on a textbook that will be based on the most effective methods of learning a language,\u00a0and the\u00a0text would be based on the Gospel\u00a0of Mark.It took a year to write this textbook, which was entitled \u201cEnglish for a New Life\u201d and requested a great effort from all of us.Then,\u00a0after the textbook\u00a0was printed, we\u00a0opened an English\u00a0school and started preparing qualified teachers.Now, our method is widely used in Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, Romania, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and even Nepal and Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
