I hope you do not mind that\u00a0I\u00a0ask so many questions, but I simply need to know and being satisfied with the answers\u00a0given by you, I have one more: What is the story of circumcision?<\/i><\/span>\u00a0I know\u00a0Jews\u00a0used to do this before and nowadays Muslims and Jews\u00a0practice circumcision,\u00a0claiming to have chosen to continue the practices of the Old Testament.<\/i><\/span>\u00a0The first accept Jesus as a prophet called Isa in the Koran,\u00a0and say\u00a0that Muhammad is the last prophet whom they follow today,\u00a0and latter, Jews do not\u00a0admit that Jesus \u2013 the Messiah has already come on earth and they still\u00a0expect Him.<\/em><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nWhat is circumcision?<\/span> <\/h4>\n

The Webster\u2019s New World Medical Dictionary\u00a0gives the following definition:<\/span> <\/p>\n

CIRCUMCISION:<\/strong> Surgery that removes the foreskin (the loose tissue) covering the glans of the penis. The Latin \u201ccircum-\u201d means around (or about). Circumcision is, literally, a cutting around. Circumcision dates back to prehistoric times.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nWho established this practice?<\/span> <\/h4>\n

God\u00a0made a covenant with Abraham, the patriarch of the people of Israel\u00a0and the father of all believers. According to it, God\u00a0promised great things\u00a0Abraham and his seed.\u00a0<\/span>Here\u2019s how it was:<\/span> <\/p>\n

Now when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him,\u00a0\u00a0\u201dI am God Almighty;\u00a0walk before Me, and be blameless.\u00a0I will establish My covenant between Me and you,\u00a0and I will multiply you exceedingly.\u201d\u00a0Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying,\u00a0\u201cAs for Me, behold, My covenant is with you,\u00a0and you will be the father of a multitude of nations.\u00a0No longer shall your name be called Abram,\u00a0but your name shall be Abraham;\u00a0for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.\u00a0I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings will come forth from you.\u00a0I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you.\u00a0I will give to you and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.\u201d (Genesis 17:1-8)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Once He told him the promises of this grand covenant\u2026<\/span> <\/p>\n

God said further to Abraham, \u201cNow as for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations.\u00a0This is My covenant, which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: every male among you shall be circumcised. <\/strong>(Genesis 17:9\u201310)(NASB)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Immediately God explained in the following verses\u2026<\/span> <\/p>\n

\nThe significance of\u00a0circumcision<\/span> <\/h4>\n

And He said:<\/span> <\/p>\n

\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be the sign of the covenant between Me and you.<\/strong>\u00a0And every male among you who is eight days old shall be circumcised throughout your generations, a servant who is born in the house or who is bought with money from any foreigner, who is not of your descendants.\u00a0A servant who is born in your house or who is bought with your money shall surely be circumcised; thus shall My covenant be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.\u00a0<\/strong>But an uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.\u201d (Genesis 17:11-14)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nWhy Christians do not practice circumcision?<\/span> <\/h4>\n

God\u00a0fulfilled the promises given to\u00a0Abraham in us, those\u00a0who have believed in the Lord Jesus.<\/span> Therefore, circumcision is no longer necessary and has no importance for Christians, as Apostle Paul says:<\/span> <\/p>\n

\n

Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God.<\/span><\/span> (1 Corinthians 7:19)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And when he\u00a0found out\u00a0that some circumcised Jews\u00a0were disturbing the first Christians\u2019 faith, saying that if someone is not circumcised, he\u00a0can not be saved, the Apostle wrote the\u00a0Christians:<\/span> <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision;\u00a0for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh.\u00a0<\/strong>(Philippians 3:2-3)(NASB)<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So, the real circumcised are we, Christians, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh, such as circumcision made by man\u2019s hand.<\/span> <\/p>\n

With regard to other religions and the importance that they give to circumcision, I let the reader to judge by himself how it is in the light of Bible\u2019s teaching.<\/span><\/p>\n
