{"id":55652,"date":"2009-04-17T20:10:21","date_gmt":"2009-04-17T18:10:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/moldovacrestina.md\/how-to-behave-with-alcohol-addict-parents-2"},"modified":"2017-05-27T09:02:39","modified_gmt":"2017-05-27T07:02:39","slug":"how-to-behave-with-alcohol-addict-parents-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/moldovacrestina.md\/en\/how-to-behave-with-alcohol-addict-parents-2\/","title":{"rendered":"How to behave with alcohol addict parents?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full img-resp\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3552\/3450552698_188e93dfd4.jpg?v=0\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Question:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"td_quote_box td_box_center\"><p><em>How to behave with alcohol addict relatives\u00a0to lead them to salvation?<\/em>\u00a0<em>It\u2019s a question that bothers\u00a0me because I do not know how to\u00a0behave with my parents.<\/em> <em>I tried to be good with them, to show understanding, to\u00a0take\u00a0care of their daily needs.<\/em>\u00a0<em>And what do I get?<\/em> <em>They continue the same, even worse, and if I try to say something\u00a0about the\u00a0situation they\u00a0face, about the need to change something, immediately they come up with accusations and charges.<\/em> <em>I tried not to get in touch with them for several months, there has been a\u00a0little change for the better, which\u00a0lasted until the first opportunity to drink and all started again.<\/em>\u00a0<em>I\u2019m at a stage when\u00a0I really do not know what to do nor do I know if I want to do something for them.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I\u00a0understand that the situation is particularly difficult and unbearable, but this does not invalidate the fifth commandment of the Decalogue (The 10 Commandments) that says:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"td_quote_box td_box_center\"><p>Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you.\u00a0(Exodus 20:12)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>To honor, but it doesn\u2019t mean\u00a0to tolerate the sin of drunkenness they\u00a0have addicted themselves\u00a0to.\u00a0I think it is better to buy food, clothes and other things they need, but do not give them money they can use to buy alcohol to addict to drunkenness.<\/p>\n<p>You must continue to talk about their situation, but do not focus so much on their sinful condition, but rather on the freedom they can have through\u00a0faith in the Lord Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>Do not stop to show affection and when they are open, tell them\u00a0a lot\u00a0about the Lord Jesus Christ and how faith in Him has changed the lives of other people and yours.<\/p>\n<p>The children who have alcohol addict parents experience shame for them, but this is a trial that you must endure, as we learn in the Scripture where God says:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"td_quote_box td_box_center\"><p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&lt;sup class=&#8221;xref&#8221; title=&#8221;See cross-reference A&#8221; value=&#8221;&#8216;(<a>A<\/a>)\u2019&gt;Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,\u00a0knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.\u00a0And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.\u00a0(James 1:2-4)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Do not despair. Even this situation, God uses to build\u00a0a beautiful\u00a0character.
