My hour has not yet come.\u201d\u00a0His mother said to the servants, \u201cWhatever He says to you, do it.\u201d\u00a0Now there were six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification, containing twenty or thirty gallons each.\u00a0Jesus said to them, \u201cFill the waterpots with water.\u201d So they filled them up to the brim.\u00a0And He said to them, \u201cDraw some out now and take it to the <strong>headwaiter<\/strong>.\u201d So they took it to him.\u00a0When the<strong> headwaiter<\/strong> tasted the water which had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the <strong>headwaiter<\/strong> called the bridegroom,\u00a0and said to him, \u201cEvery man serves the good wine first, and when the people have drunk freely, then he serves the poorer wine; but you have kept the good wine until now.\u201d\u00a0This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him. <\/span>(The Gospel of John 2:1-11)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>The word\u2019s meaning<\/h2>\n<p>The New Testament was written in Koine dialect, a common dialect of Greek spoken by the people. The word which is translated into English\u00a0by \u201cheadwaiter\u201d is the Greek <em><strong>arhitriklinos <\/strong><\/em>and it\u00a0is used with reference to the supervisor of the\u00a0banquet room, i.e. the person who\u00a0manages the banquet.
