I published an article before\u00a0about the dangers of the virtual games. Recently I was asked to\u00a0touch the subject of gambling from the perspective of the Bible. I\u2019d like to start with \u2026<\/p>\n
When I was still a student at school, many colleagues used to play tzoaka for money, and when they grew older\u00a0they began to\u00a0play cards\u00a0for money. As far as I remember, that play was called \u201cSeca\u201d and I do not know what that name means.\u00a0As a child, I\u00a0looked at others and\u00a0I tried to play too, but seeing that I was losing more\u00a0than I was winning, at one point I decided to renounce.\u00a0Instead, I had a colleague who had some exceptional abilities\u00a0at Mathematics and\u00a0the teachers were\u00a0prophesying him a bright future.\u00a0He\u00a0was always winning when\u00a0he played cards for money, and so\u00a0he was caught in these games, that he began to spend the\u00a0nights on the street\u00a0at the light\u00a0of a telegraph pole\u00a0to play with the colleagues. They began this in fall, but then continued so in winter and only\u00a0sometimes were\u00a0scattered at home by the police that found them during\u00a0the night control. They decided to move\u00a0to one\u2019s home and so they continued to play day and night.\u00a0They graduated\u00a0the school\u00a0somehow to enter the college, but there the same friends came, and being caught\u00a0in this evil\u00a0passion of\u00a0the games of chance, they were missing the lessons, were not learning, and soon they were expelled. My colleague had to go and work many years in another country,\u00a0facing very\u00a0difficult situations, but he could\u00a0have made his career through\u00a0studies, or maybe through sports because he\u00a0had exceptional sporting qualities, only if he hadn\u2019t fallen\u00a0into this evil\u00a0trap of the games of chance. I have not seen him for a long time, but I understood that\u00a0now, however, he\u00a0began right from the start, he graduated the college and he even leads an enterprise. I would enjoy to meet with him and to know that he is\u00a0well and he got rid of this passion.<\/p>\n
The Bible makes no direct references to gambling, but when we study other vices that God speaks about\u00a0in the Holy\u00a0Scripture, we can certainly say that gambling is a sinful passion, that is a hot desire that seizes the man and he\u00a0can no longer control himself, becoming\u00a0the slave of this evil passion, as Apostle Paul writes, about the\u00a0way of life\u00a0of the man that is is not in\u00a0covenant with\u00a0the Lord Jesus Christ. He says:<\/p>\n
For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death.\u00a0(Romans 7:5)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
I<\/span> have noticed that people who were caught in this bad passion, become obsessed with it and\u00a0can not be freed\u00a0from it.<\/p>\nGambling involve cheat<\/h2>\n
My friend Omar Satseradze, who is a pastor now and\u00a0makes a great ministry for\u00a0the Gospel in the city of Kutaisi of Georgia, but\u00a0he was a great card player\u00a0for money, and made many misdoings for which he repented\u00a0and God forgave him giving him a new life.\u00a0Omar\u00a0told me many\u00a0things and\u00a0even showed me how playing cards for money is based on cheating. The one who knows how to\u00a0cheat better\u00a0wins that game.<\/p>\n

Gambling is a\u00a0trap for the greedy<\/h2>\n
People who want to enrich quickly without working\u00a0turn to gambling for many times, especially when they are still adolescents and young people.\u00a0 And then, once they are caught in this evil passion, they can not issue it.\u00a0That\u2019s why God says:<\/p>\n
My son, if sinners entice you,\u00a0do not consent.\u00a0If they say, \u201cCome with us,\u00a0let us lie in wait for blood,\u00a0let us ambush the innocent without cause;\u00a0let us swallow them alive like Sheol,\u00a0even whole, as those who go down to the pit;\u00a0we will find all kinds of precious wealth,\u00a0we will fill our houses with spoil;\u00a0throw in your lot with us,\u00a0we shall all have one purse,\u201d\u00a0My son, do not walk in the way with them\u00a0keep your feet from their path,\u00a0for their feet run to evil\u00a0and they hasten to shed blood.\u00a0Indeed, it is useless to spread the baited net\u00a0in the sight of any bird;\u00a0but they lie in wait for their own blood;\u00a0they ambush their own lives.\u00a0So are the ways of everyone who gains by violence;\u00a0it takes away the life of its possessors.\u00a0\u00a0(Proverbs of Solomon 1:10-19)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Those who are of Christ are no longer slaves of the sinful passions<\/h2>\n
When a man\u00a0enters the covenant with the Lord Jesus Christ through faith and repentance, and receives the Holy Spirit,\u00a0being led by the Spirit of God, he\u00a0will bring fruit, as the Bible says:<\/p>\n
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.\u00a0For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.\u00a0But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.\u00a0Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,\u00a0idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, actions,\u00a0envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.\u00a0(Galatians 5:16-21)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
How you see in the text, when\u00a0he listed the deeds of the flesh, Apostle Paul left the list unfinished and said, \u201cand\u00a0things\u00a0like these.\u201d\u00a0Certainly that\u00a0gambling completes this list.<\/p>\n
