Children are born with a sinful nature<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I will begin to answer with the second part of the question, namely that children are not born pure,\u00a0or without sin, but they are born with a sinful nature. In the book of psalms, king David, when\u00a0he was\u00a0repenting for the\u00a0sin committed\u00a0with Bath-Sheba and for\u00a0killing Uriah the Hittite, he said:<\/p>\n

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,\u00a0and in sin my mother conceived me. (Psalm 51:5)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He did not say by this that his mother had been an easy\u00a0woman or that\u00a0he had been\u00a0born as the result of adultery, but he said that the sinful nature had been sent him since birth and that all people have it and it\u00a0is sent by heredity. The same thing is told by Apostle Paul in the Epistle to Romans, when\u00a0he says:<\/p>\n

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned.\u00a0(Romans 5:12)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God punishes the iniquity of the parents in their children<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This thing is confirmed in the second of the Ten Commandments, when God warns people of the seriousness and consequences of idolatry and He says:<\/p>\n

You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.\u00a0\u201dYou shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,\u00a0but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. (Exodus 20:4-6)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God\u2019s blessing for the descendants exceeds the punishment<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It is clearly seen from the second commandment\u00a0that God punishes to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Him, but\u00a0has mercy\u00a0to the thousand generation of those who love Him and keep His commandments. When God gave Moses the second time the text of the 10 Commandments, the Lord passed on before him and he cried:<\/p>\n

Then the LORD passed by in front of him and proclaimed, \u201cThe LORD, the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth;\u00a0who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.\u201d (Exodus 34:6-7)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Certainly that anyone will question how can\u00a0children bear at the same time\u00a0the blessings of some parents or grandparents and the\u00a0punishment\u00a0of others? Here is\u00a0a certain case\u00a0written on the pages of Holy Scriptures.<\/p>\n

Parents died in the\u00a0wilderness and children entered Canaan<\/strong><\/h2>\n

After they came out the\u00a0slavery\u00a0of Egypt,\u00a0led by Moses, people\u00a0came to the borders of the country of\u00a0Canaan. From Cades-Barnea, Moses sent 12\u00a0spies to investigate the country. When they returned, 10 of them spoke\u00a0bad and frightened the people so that they grumbled against God. Because of their unbelief, the\u00a0Most High\u00a0decided that they would not enter the promised country\u00a0and He also said:<\/p>\n

Your children, however, whom you said would become a prey\u2013I will bring them in, and they will know the land which you have rejected.\u00a0But as for you, your corpses will fall in this wilderness.\u00a0Your sons shall be shepherds for forty years in the wilderness, and they will suffer for your unfaithfulness, until your corpses lie in the wilderness. Due to the blessing\u00a0of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, children\u00a0were sent free\u00a0from the\u00a0Egyptian slavery and\u00a0entered the country\u00a0of Canaan, but because of the parents who gave birth to them, they had to\u00a0wander through the wilderness\u00a0forty years. Isn\u2019t\u00a0it\u00a0the same nowadays?<\/span> Don\u2019t we bear the consequences of the\u00a0generation that denied God so quickly, and until now live in unbelief, looking\u00a0back to Egypt of the atheistic Communism? But what\u00a0inheritance do\u00a0you leave your heirs? Will\u00a0any of them have to wander through the wilderness of despair, poverty and immorality because of\u00a0the unbelief in which you live today?<\/p>\n

God forbids people to punish children for the parents\u2019 crimes and inversely<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In the communist regime many were sent to concentration camps in Siberia\u00a0because their parents had been accused of something. God says very definitely in the Holy Scriptures:<\/p>\n

Fathers shall not be put to death for their sons, nor shall sons be put to death for their fathers; everyone shall be put to death for his own sin. (Deuteronomy 24:16)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

People have always\u00a0exceeded their cruelty and sought to punish parents for children or inversely. Here is an example what writes one of the\u00a0law of the oldest legislation of the world, the code of Hammurabi<\/a>:<\/p>\n

If a builder build a house for some one and complete it, he shall give him a fee of two shekels in money for each sar of surface.<\/span> If a builder build a house for some one, and does not construct it properly, and the house which he built fall in and kill its owner, then that builder shall be put to death. If it kill the son of the owner the son of that builder shall be put to death.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As you\u00a0see, that code of laws\u00a0foresaw to kill the son for the\u00a0sin\u00a0of the father, which was a crime and an abomination before God.<\/p>\n

God doesn\u2019t want the death of the sinner<\/strong><\/h2>\n

During the time of the prophet\u00a0Ezekiel, some of the people of Israel that were in the Babylonian slavery thought\u00a0that they didn\u2019t have their own guilt before God and that\u00a0they were in that slavery only because of the sins of their parents. Thus, they were even saying this: \u201cThe fathers eat the sour grapes,\u00a0but the children\u2019s teeth are set on edge?\u201d In chapter 18 of the book of the prophet Ezekiel God deals\u00a0with\u00a0this subject and He shows people that He does not kill the child who lives right\u00a0for the\u00a0parent who lives in\u00a0iniquity and vice versa, He doesn\u2019t excuse from death the child who lives in iniquity because\u00a0his father was a righteous man. God in His goodness is ready to forgive everyone and He says:<\/p>\n

But if the wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed and observes all My statutes and practices justice and righteousness, he shall surely live; he shall not die.\u00a0\u201dAll his transgressions which he has committed will not be remembered against him; because of his righteousness which he has practiced, he will live.\u00a0\u201dDo I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked,\u201d declares the Lord GOD, \u201crather than that he should turn from his ways and live?\u00a0(Ezekiel 18:21-23)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Repent <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Dear reader. I do not know\u00a0how is your life and the problems you face. I do not know how\u00a0your parents\u00a0or your grandparents lived\u00a0and what spiritual inheritance\u00a0they\u00a0left you. Maybe now you suffer the consequences of their sins and the consequences of your own sins. Do not think that God finds pleasure in this state of yours. No way. He loves you so much that He gave His only begotten Son to death, so that you could get a perfect forgiveness and a new heart through this\u00a0perfect sacrifice. Come with all your\u00a0heart to Jesus, make a covenant with Him by faith and choose to study the\u00a0Holy Scriptures to know and\u00a0to follow His way\u00a0in all things. God help you so.<\/span><\/p>\n
