Theater is a tool of communication\u00a0that can be used for good or for bad, just as television or the Internet or the telephone, they can be used to communicate the truth of God and valuable things, but also to\u00a0spread immorality, aggression and evil that destroy human souls. We can not condemn the theater just as we can not condemn the\u00a0knife.It matters who uses this tool and what purpose he has.In the hands of a chef, a knife helps to prepare tasty\u00a0food,\u00a0in the hands of a surgeon to make complicated operations and save lives, and in the hands of a killer, the knife is a tool that brings death and misfortune. It is the same with\u00a0the theater.<\/p>\n
One of\u00a0these\u00a0plays\u00a0is\u00a0The Vagina Monologues, that is used by some people as a tool to spread immorality.Do not go to such a play,\u00a0because this will affect your thinking and you\u00a0will be attracted by practices that will bring grave consequences, that you have never wanted. When I was a student at the Faculty of Theology I had to do a workpaper, where\u00a0I analyzed the symbolic prophetic\u00a0acts\u00a0from the book of the prophet Ezekiel.Read this book and you will see that it floods with such symbolic acts. Such a symbolic acts\u00a0is also described in the book of the prophet Jeremiah, chapters 27 and 28. The biblical passage begins so:<\/p>\n
In the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying\u2013\u00a0thus says the LORD to me\u2013\u201dMake for yourself bonds and yokes and put them on your neck. (Jeremiah 27:1-2)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Through this prophetic act,\u00a0that was an element of theater, God asked the prophet Jeremiah to\u00a0put a yoke on his neck and thus to tell the people of Israel to submit to the king\u00a0 Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babilon and accept his yoke, to not be destroyed.<\/p>\n
Theater should be used for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ<\/h2>\n
Theater is a very powerful tool of communication with certainty.\u00a0I am sorry that\u00a0it is used so little\u00a0by Christians. I remember how in their childhood, I put the children\u00a0on one side\u00a0of the bed and I\u00a0was lying on the other side of the bed, and I took a\u00a0doll or other toy, and\u00a0began to make a show with\u00a0those dolls, as they were teaching each other the Holy Scriptures.The children were staying\u00a0very amazed for\u00a0many hours\u00a0and were listening, then they taught and were\u00a0playing that game by themselves, that\u00a0was\u00a0such an effective way to teach them the holy things.<\/p>\n
Every summer, we are\u00a0used to\u00a0organize inductive Bible study camps, where the participants learn\u00a0one lesson from the book a day and then prepare skits\u00a0through which they show the central truth of the lesson. This is fun, but it helps them very well to\u00a0learn the\u00a0biblical truth and communicate it to others.<\/p>\n
I am g<\/span>lad to\u00a0see that there are\u00a0more theaters in Moldova, but I am so sorry, and\u00a0I dream\u00a0of the day when it will be a group of Christian actors, that\u00a0will have their beautiful building where they will present plays, that will share the truth of God\u2019s Word and proclaim the Gospel. What\u00a0a great blessing\u00a0will be such a theater\u00a0for our country.<\/p>\n
