\"howI was motivated to write this article after I was at a youth meeting. There was a contest and some boys and girls had to come in front of all people to receive a gift, but firstly they had to introduce themselves, who they were and what they were doing. I knew some of them and great things they are doing for the Gospel and they could have told something impressive, but they presented themselves in such a way, that those who saw them for the first time didn\u2019t have the best opinion about them. That\u2019s why, I decided to write this article, where I will share some practical advice how it is good and right to introduce ourselves to people. I also made a personal study on this topic, following how Apostle Paul introduces himself in all epistles of the New Testament that had been written by him.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t talk and behave in an easy manner<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Don\u2019t forget that the first impression people have about you is very important and it changes very difficult. I saw how someone came in front and was smiling with no reason in an easy way, saying when he introduced himself: \u201cMy name is \u2026 and I work\u201d or \u201c\u2026 study\u201d, or even worse \u201cI do not do anything\u2026\u201d At least it was need to talk seriously, otherwise people will believe that they have a disdainful attitude towards their own person, or maybe towards the study or service that\u00a0they do.<\/p>\n

Speak clearly and specifically <\/strong><\/h2>\n

It is clear that every young person studies,\u00a0or works or, at worst, does nothing. If <\/span>you said one of those word,\u00a0you didn\u2019t communicate anything new about you and you\u00a0didn\u2019t present yourself.Tell\u00a0shortly where you work and as what, or where\u00a0you study.So people will want to know more about you, or to ask you to help\u00a0with your services.<\/p>\n

Introduce yourself\u00a0from\u00a0the position you have in Christ <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Almost in all the epistles of the New Testament\u00a0that he\u00a0wrote, Apostle Paul presents the position that\u00a0he has\u00a0in Christ.Here is an example:<\/p>\n

Paul, called as an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother (1 Corinthians 1:1)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He begins the Epistle to\u00a0Galatians\u00a0in this way:<\/p>\n

Paul, an apostle not sent from men nor through the agency of man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead)(Galatians 1:1)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Direct people\u2019s attention\u00a0to Christ and to the Gospel <\/strong><\/h2>\n

More important than\u00a0our own\u00a0person, we have to share the Gospel that presents the person of our Lord Jesus Christ.If people don\u2019t know us personally, this will not affect their\u00a0eternal life, as it will be if they\u00a0do not know\u00a0the Lord Jesus\u00a0personally.Therefore, even when we introduce ourselves, we have to draw\u00a0people\u2019s attention to the person of\u00a0the Lord Jesus and to the message of the Gospel, as\u00a0Apostle Paul does at the beginning of the Epistle\u00a0to\u00a0Romans, when he writes:<\/p>\n

Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,\u00a0which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures,\u00a0concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh,\u00a0who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,\u00a0through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name\u2019s sake (Romans 1:1-5)(NASB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tell\u00a0people how you can serve them in the Gospel<\/strong><\/h2>\n

At the same meeting\u00a0a young man came\u00a0in front, who is a very good sportsman and\u00a0coach, who\u00a0trains\u00a0young people, and especially teaches the Holy Scriptures. But when he came out he said: \u201cMy name is \u2026 and I train\u00a0\u2026\u201d I am so sorry that he lost\u00a0such a\u00a0beautiful way to tell young people what he does and he didn\u2019t\u00a0invite them\u00a0to come to training, and especially, to study\u00a0the Holy Scriptures together.<\/p>\n

So, when you introduce yourself, don\u2019t behave and talk in an easy way, but tell people what you do, what position and\u00a0service you have in Christ Jesus and what you can give them through the Gospel.<\/p>\n
