During a lesson I had this week in college, while the teacher explained the topic to us, two of my colleagues were talking continuously, not paying attention to what the teacher was saying. I turned to them and asked them to be quiet because it made it difficult for us all to listen to what the teacher was teaching us and, at the same time, it was hard for the teacher to talk to us. The girls were outraged because I asked them to be quiet, but they stopped talking for a while. I am sure that such behavior is familiar to you either when you see it in your classmates or because you yourself behave in this way during lessons. Many pupils and students are not aware of the importance of listening during class, and sit during lessons doing anything else but what the teachers tell them. Below I have described some reasons for the importance of listening during lessons.<\/span><\/p>\n

You will accumulate the necessary knowledge and you will become skilled<\/b><\/h2>\n

The university \/ school is a place where we have to go to accumulate knowledge in order to obtain a profession that will be useful both to us and our family and to society. Proverbs 1:4-5 tells us why it is important to listen to teaching: \u201cto give wisdom to the untrained, to the young man knowledge and wisdom, but to listen to the wise and increase his knowledge, and the wise will gain skill.\u201d So, when you are in class, pay attention to what the teacher is saying, because he explains what you need to learn in order to know the material and to make high marks on the exams. We can never say we know enough, there is always room to do better. If you listen carefully, you will learn well the profession you have chosen, you will become skilled in it, and then people will seek your services and so you will do well materially.<\/span><\/p>\n

Use your time wisely<\/b><\/h2>\n

Often students are in a big dilemma, and I was myself. When students have enough time to learn, they do not study, but always repeat in their minds that there is still plenty of time before exams. Time passes and the exams are around the corner, and the student still hasn’t learned what he had to learn and at the last minute he wants to pass them all, but he still doesn’t succeed. During lessons they don\u2019t listen because they are deceived by the thought that they will learn at home. In Paul’s epistle to the Ephesians, chapter 5, verses 15 and 16 tells us:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSo then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From the beginning of the semester until the exams, we must listen to what the teacher teaches us and then learn individually the topic that was discussed in class. If we have to go to the library, then let’s go, if we have to do an individual assignment then let’s do it in time. Plan your time and the activities you have to do on time and in this way you will succeed in everything, and you will not be in a time crisis when during the exams because you will have the material already mastered.<\/span><\/p>\n

The teacher deserves respect<\/b><\/h2>\n

I remember the teacher’s face very well when he taught us the lesson with great passion, and my colleagues were talking to each other and still making noise. On the teacher\u2019s face I saw a sadness and I felt sorry for him, because he put in a lot of effort and enthusiasm, and some did not listen to him. I would like you to know that the teacher, before coming to the lesson, spends a lot of time to prepare, and when he teaches, the most important thing he needs is the students\u2019 attention. I say this because I am also an English teacher and I am going through these experiences. Therefore, respect the teacher and listen when he speaks to you, look him in the face and answer when needed, this will prove that you have common sense. You may not become a teacher in life, but you will definitely be a parent and you will want your children to listen to you and respect you, so listen to the teachers you have.<\/span><\/p>\n

Follow this advice and you and you will be successful.<\/span><\/p>\n
