After a visit to an embassy and a foreign exchange today, I decided to write a post about the importance of showing a pleasant attitude in terms of serving people at work. Good service is the key to the success of any business.<\/span><\/p>\n

When serving, do not look gloomy or upset<\/b><\/h2>\n

At the embassy, \u200b\u200bthe young lady at the counter, although quite elegantly dressed and with moderate make-up, had an angry face and a look of displeasure toward anyone who approached. I had the impression that I hadn’t come on time, or that I shouldn’t have come, or that I had the wrong counter and disturbed her from her work. But none of these reasons was valid in this case. She angrily told me that my documents were not ready and that I could leave, or come another time, or if I wanted to wait until they were offered to me. I preferred to wait and saw that as everyone else approached, they were greeted with the same service – an angry look full of discontent. Immediately after that, I went to a currency exchange and there, the lady who was at the counter also looked very, very upset, as if I had come to borrow a large sum of money from her, or to take it by force and not to exchange, thus making her a profit, which in the end is also her salary, and for which she should have been grateful to me, or at least cordial. I wonder why these people do that. Maybe it’s their way of taking revenge on those who hurt them when they go to the service counters of other organizations, or maybe they have trouble with those at home, and that’s their way of rewarding the whole human race. Such service is not good and it is not fair to act this way. There is a proverb among the people that says “What you don’t like – don’t do to others!” Proverbs puts things in a negative light, but Jesus said this principle positively and beautifully when He said, \u201cWhatever you want men to do to you, do to them also, for this is the law and the prophets\u201d (Matthew 7:12). So let us do to men not according to what they do to us, but however we would like for them to treat us, such a conduct and attitude we should have in relation to others. In fact, the relationship we have with people reflects the relationship we have with God.<\/span><\/p>\n

Seek to help people by showing kindness<\/b><\/h2>\n

While I was waiting at the embassy, another gentleman and a lady came to the counter and after they came with all the documents, they presented a report of a few meters of paper from the bank, which included all the details, until finally the woman at the counter said to them in a cold voice, devoid of any understanding and compassion, “The total is not indicated, you must go and bring another document again.” She did not even seek to understand what was written on that paper, she let the people go and do those documents repeatedly. People were so exhausted and it was obvious that they were often turned back again and again. God says in the book of Proverbs of Solomon, \u201cDo not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. Do not say to your neighbor, \u201cGo, and come back, and tomorrow I will give it to you, when you have it with you. \u201d (Proverbs 3:27-28)<\/span><\/p>\n

What service do you offer to people when they call for your help, or when you serve them while at work? Don’t you want to make people see the face of the Lord Jesus on your face while you serve them? You can do it.<\/span><\/p>\n
