Yesterday I had an interesting discussion with the person who cut my hair. After I met her and she found out that I was a priest, I asked her what church she attends. She told me that she rarely goes to church, maybe once a year, not more often, but she said she has faith in her heart. I asked, \u201cAnd what makes you have faith in your heart? Do you read the Bible at home?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n – No, was the answer.<\/span><\/p>\n “Then are you used to praying?” – I asked.<\/span><\/p>\n “I don’t even pray,” said the speaker, “I just have faith in my heart and that’s it.” I didn’t give up until I got an answer and asked:<\/span><\/p>\n “But how does this faith of yours manifest itself?”<\/span><\/p>\n – I can’t give a concrete answer, I just have faith and that’s it, was the answer.<\/span><\/p>\n How sad it is that most people are wrong and think they have faith when they have nothing. Faith must be nourished, nurtured, and sustained, and this is done by the Word of God as the apostle Paul writes in his letter to the Romans when he says:<\/span><\/p>\n How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, \u201cHow beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!\u201d <\/span>However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, \u201cLord, who has believed our report?\u201d So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
